Infertility/Fibroids & now I'm PREGNANT!!! a story of hope...

Not sure if this is the right section to post.

We'd been trying to conceive for 1 year with no success. We got referred to a fertility clinic and then had to wait on their waiting list. Finally, in December 2010 I was told I had fibroids and needed a myomectomy. Pretty scary stuff especially whilst at my pre-op appointment they gave me a leaflet on hysterectomy.
In January 2011, I had my operation and 5 fibroids were removed over 4 hours. The largest was the size of a grapefruit, 2 were large orange sizes. The fibroids had meant I bled alot, so I was also low in Iron so I had 6 injections of iron.
We were told to wait 3 months before TTC. I had a ultrasound to check the operation in April and was told that I had a 1.3cm polyp so another operation was needed to remove this. My surgeon told me to continue trying as he was confident we could still get pregnant.
In May 2011, we had out first positive pregnancy test - 17 months after seriously trying.
My first scan is booked for Monday so fingers crossed they can find a heartbeat.
I just wanted to share my journey and hope it will give comfort to anyone on the same journey.

Congratulations! I bet you cannot wait for Monday to see that hearbeat:)
Your story resembles mine, but the difference is that I fell pregnant 1.5month before the operation. What are the odds, after 2 years of trying and diagnosed fibroid. Now I do struggle with the fibroids, as they grew and hurt, but the baby is fine! I will have them removed once the baby is born.
