Is anyone a bleeder?

I'm 10 wks pg with dc3 and started bleeding on Sunday. Was referred to EPU by A&E and early scan done which found baby to be fine and no sign of bleeding anywhere around the baby. Bleeding seems to be linked to walking around/standing so I have been resting this wk.

My last pg was a nightmare - I started bleeding at 16 wks that time and bled every day from then on, getting heavier and heavier. Once again, baby was not affected by bleeding but waters broke early and I had extremely prem birth. Just wondering if there is anyone else who has bled throughout pregnancy? I'm really interested to hear other people's experiences as I'm dreading another pg like the last one!

I didn't bleed until 32w with dd1 which was all very dramatic but they stopped labour and she ended up being born at 39+5w.

This pg, I think I've actually lost count of the number of bleeds. In fact the consultant asked me today about the bleeding and I couldn't remember when the last one was - not because it was ages ago, but I seem to be blocking them out. I'm expecting twins and have an "ectopia" on my cervix. I probably should find out more but they don't seem worried. The main pain for me is the anti-d injections I have to have when I bleed - I feel like moving into the hospital!

Every pg is different so I hope this is just a little blip for you and the rest of the pg will be fine. xx

Thanks Princess. They have suggested to me that because the bleeding is not coming from anywhere around baby, it may be my cervix but I'll see consultant in a couple of weeks so will discuss it again then, esp if bleeding doesn't stop. What are anti-d injections?

I've had a few bleeds this time, my last pg was fine. I had a huge bleed at 9 weeks, a smaller on a week later, and then another big one at 12 weeks. I bled slowly but over a long period over Easter too. I've had three scans, all fine and they can't see any reason for it happening. I heard the heartbeat on tue for the first time since the last bleed (I didn't go to EPAU that time) so all is still fine, and fingers crossed my bleeding days are over!

There doesn't seem to be any pattern to mine, but I do take it very easy for a few days after it's happened, and we're still on a sex ban Grin. I'm nearly 18 weeks now so I'm just assuming it was a blip for me that doesn't really mean anything.

Anti d is a jab you need if you are rhesus negative and have a bleed from 12 weeks on. I've had one so far.

I hope it all goes well for you, keep taking it easy Smile

Oh dear Icoulddoitbetter - you have had a hard time of it. Have you been put on iron tablets? I have taken some time off work this week to rest, which seems to have helped. Thanks ladies - its helpful to hear from others in the same boat x

im 11+3 and started to bleed weds - went to a&e yesterday and was referrred straight away to gynae emergency where dr did a speculum and a ve - everything is closed so was advised it could be a threatened m/c and to bedrest until scan on monday

i didnt have any bleeding what so ever in my previous pg x 2 and have never m/c before so am in limbo as to what is happening

though reading this thread has made me have some hope that it could (fingers, toes, knees and ears x'd) be one of those things and everything could be fine

can i just ask - when you have bled is it old blood or fresh?? any pain??

good luck with your pg's ladies xx

I was a bleeder in my first pregnancy, had several up until around five/six months, all very worrying but all was fine with ds. Mine sometimes seemed to be prompted by sex but not always, which put me off a bit tbh and was the main reason I didn't find out I was pregnant until ten weeks as the bleeds were heavy enough to mistake for my period.

I followed it up with a smear afterwards and needed cervical treatment which was coated with iodine and silver solution and I've had no bleeding at all through this pregnancy so I think in my case it was probably my cervix causing the problem.

I bled from weeks 3.5 to 11, because of a haemmorage on my uterus. This included 4 big red bleeds, the first I thought was a period so I didn't realise I was preg until 6 weeks. One bleed at 7 weeks was a big gush with clots. No pain though. All very scary as I had a mc last year but I'm now 17 weeks and all seems ok, haemmorage has healed.

glenda I hope it all goes well for you on monday. I found the haemmorage bleed was red and heavy-ish from the star, whereas the mc bleed started as a tiny bit of pink spotting and built up over the week before I finally got pains and heavy bleeding the following week. Although I know things happen differently for everyone.

Interesting Peter that yours was cervix related as well. I haven't had a smear for yrs and I suppose I should have really, esp after bleeding so badly during last pg. Cattleprod - yours sounds awful! Must have been so scary but glad to hear it has healed now.

Glenda - hope that Monday goes well. The bleed I have just had started off pink but has been brown since then so I am hoping it will stop. I haven't had any pain or cramping this time. With 2 dcs to look after and a full time job though, I am scared at the thought I might have to rest for the duration of this pg.

Like you, my first pg was wonderful, no probs whatsoever so it was a shock when my 2nd pg was such a nightmare. That time, I bled bright red from 16 wks. I had also felt very ill up to that point and had been having stomach cramps throughout pg so suspected mc. But all scans showed baby was happy as larry and it was just me that was suffering! This time baby is also fine so seems that my blood loss doesn't affect the babies. Hope its good news for you too - do let us know if you can x

I am 24 + 1 and have had 3 bleeds so far, and its due to cerivical erosion, which is apparently nothing to worry about, though TMI here, mine has only been when i wipe after going to the toilet, never enough to be in my knickers or warrant pads or suchlike, touchwood.

Oh, and its bright red blood, again the hosp told me that good news!

Anti-d is what they have to give you if you're blood group is negative as the baby/ies might be positive (in my case dd1 is positive as dh is). You have it at 28w but also if you have a bleed before that.

I think my cervix went "inverted" after dd's natural birth - vaguely remember someone telling me this, but it's never been a problem until now.

I've had my fifth this afternoon (had one every few weeks since 5+4), always bright red or pink, always when I wipe, never enough to pool or stain my knickers and I only notice it because I'm looking. It always passes quickly as well. Doesn't stop it being bloody terrifying though. As I'm 17 weeks and have been feeling the baby move I'm not as worried this time but was shaking when it happened. Hate it. Would absolutely love if that was the last one!

TP - hope it stops for you.

Glenda - mine is just blood. Have never had clots or anything else. The hospital always ask that. Are you having any pain now?

i bled with my 4th baby frm the day b4 i found out i was pg at 4 wks until i was 11 wks. it never stopped. was sometimes light and sometimes a bit heavier. was red sometimes but most of the time was brown with tiny, sometimes stringy clots. it caused no end of worry because ive mc 4 times in the past and it had all the signs of a mc including slight cramping sometimes. even the docs and the hospital wrote the pg off because of my history and the fact tht id been diagnosed with a fibroid a few mnths earlier. i now have a beautiful healthy 1 year old son and the doctors explained tht the fertilised egg had implanted into a blood vessel in my uterus and caused it to bleed. try not 2 worry too much....theres lots of causes of bleeding in pg. hope this helps a little. good luck ladies. jen xx
