Can I ask why it matters? And do you think asking how people's children were conceived is a rather personal question?

Can I ask why you want to know?

I am 44, am wondering if i'm too old to do it again. :)

not too personal re the ivf imo, people can choose to tell or not. Given the age of the lady, genuinelt wondered if it was a natural conception.

Thanks for clarifying Lia. I am 43, 31wks with my first. Natural conception, but I did have 4 mcs before this one. Nothing age related with mcs, they were almost certainly due to a blood disorder that is being managed through this pg. Have no hesitation to recommend pg at this age...but without a comparison I cant say whether I am having a tougher physical time than someone younger.

IVF. There's a very sad story behind it that I won't go into here in case she reads mn.

If its relevant...I am one of a group of 4 of us who decided to 'go for it' at around the same age 2 years ago. I am the only one who finally got pg which breaks my heart for the others. One has egg problems and has started IVF. One has no identifiable problems but just hasnt successfully conceived yet. The other is about to start testing.

I'm 48 and the conception was natural for all those curious folks!! I never planned to have a family otherwise I would have started earlier probably. Just caught out when I thought I was going through the change and very shocked but also bemused. DH is in trauma. I'm trying not to get excited or hopeful as I know it is early days and the odds are stacked against me. But would be fun if I became a mum Smile

My upstairs neighbour was visiting a friend the other day who is pg at 49 and a friend of a friend was recently pg at 49...with triplets Shock. Naturally conceived in both cases (iirc, the incidence of multiples increases with age?).

I know a woman who had a surprise 3rd at 44. She had been having a horrific time and her DD helped her get through everything. She's now 6 and is a gorgeous, incredibly clever little girl with a fantastic family.

I actually wonder if being an older mum with experience and being more chilled about thing made her an even better mum. Although she did say it was a lot harder than when she was 30.

The only thing is that the mum has often been assumed to be the grandma!

Yes I'm thinking of taking out twin insurance myself as my grandmother had twins and DH has been told he will be made redundant so might be a back up plan! See how I do with first few hurdles. knowing my luck it just might happen!

Good luck with it all adalle. I had my DC at 39 and 40, so relatively old, and whilst exhausting, it's also been fun!

Lia you're never too old :)
I know what you mean by the not quite finished feeling, I had it very badly after DC1 and literally asked the cmw on day 0, about 8 hours after he was born when I could start trying for the next one....

Having had the 'not finished yet' feeling I'm now 5 weeks with #4 aged 43. Already the veins have announced themselves :)

I did get them 10 years ago, but not this early.

How to tell the family is my main concern though, think that says more about my family than my age
