Anyone had a pain like this?

Since yesterday I have had a sort of shooting pain in the left hand side of my groin when I stand up after sitting down, also get it when getting in and out of the car. Have mild backache also but nothing horrendous (yet!).

Do you think it is anything to worry about? Should I give Dr or Midwife a call on Monday or just normal aches and pains of pregnancy. I am a natural worrier so can't stop thinking about it.

It could be SPD but definitely call your GP/MW on Monday. Try not to worry though. Smile

I have spd, and it sounds like that! It's nothing to worry about, it's just painful for you as the ligaments stretch too much. I'm 22 weeks and think I'm a little early to have it but this is my third pregnancy, although never had it with my previous two! I get back pain near the dimples in my lower back and it sends shooting pains up my back, my pelvis is very sore and by 10am I'm bent double, they've given me crutches and a belt to help with it. You can keep yourself dosed up on paracetamol aswell to help with the pain! Go see your midwife and she'll ref ere you to a physiotherapist. X x x hope it helps and doesn't freak you out! X x x

I had that all the way through. Its's just the ligaments stretching. Just stand up sloooowly and it won't happen so much. Really takes your breath away doesn't it?

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping it wouldn't be spd. Will ring monday morning and see if I can get a midwife apt.

I agree sounds like spd - ask your midwife for a physio referral, but in the meantime the main tip is to keep your knees together when getting in and out of car/bed or rolling over at night, and avoid standing on one leg e.g. when putting on shoes. HTH
