2nd Hand Pregnancy / Baby Books - Where to Buy?

Now I know that reading up in advance can only prepare you so far for something as mammoth as the change of life which having a baby will bring... but I'd still like to arm myself with some tips in the hope that some of it comes in use later.

I've made myself a reading list and scoured my local library which has turned up some of the titles, but there are still a good number which I'd like to get hold of and I wondered if anyone can tell me a good place to find these second hand?

Neither ebay nor Amazon are helping on this occasion. Is there a secret place I haven't come across for selling baby / pregnancy books?

Many thanks

Charity book shops often have a lot of pregnancy books. Maybe give them a cal and see if they have what you want? RSPCA, Oxfam and Amnesty all have dedicated bookshops. Oxfam also sell some one their website I think.

I got two brilliant massive pregnancy books from my local charity shops. They are full of them so get down there and donate to a worthy cause at the same time!

Have you seen if there's an NCT nearly new sale in your area? There are usually lots of pregnancy and parenting books, along with all the other baby bits you might need.

Who's books do you want? Ebay have lots of Gina Ford, Baby Whisperer, Dr Spock and a few Elizabeth Pantley No Cry books.......

Worth asking at the library desk if they can get the title you want in on intra-library transfer from another area. Or they may even order it for you.

If you've got other books you'd like to get rid of then it's be worth you joining ReadItSwapIt.

Or post a new thread saying "trying to track down a copy of [title] - can you help" and some kind mumsnetter might be able to assist.

I can heartily recommend this as well worth a read before attempting to write a birth plan. I borrowed it from the Essex library network.

Happy reading!

I've got a copy of 'your pregnancy bible' that you're welcome to have if you'd like it. PM me with your details if you're interested and I'll stick it in the post.

What about on facebook. I am part of a local 'items for sale in (location)' group. Have a look and see if there is one for where you live. Can get some pretty cheap things on there.
