Hi
There may have been a recent thread on this already but I can't seem to find it, so apologies if this question has been answered before, but planning to dye my hair this weekend and just wondered what thoughts were on whether it's safe to do this during pregnancy?
Thanks for the advice.

With a good quality reputable dye it is generally held to be safe. The probs were with older less tested dyes. The advice is still to do a skin test a few days before (behind your ear) because your skin tolerance can be very different in pg. Also keep contact of dye with skin to a minimum. If using ammonia based product try and stay in ventilated area..the smell could be too much during pg!!

Yes. But if you are concerned, you can ask your hairdresser.

In this case, if it can't be used while pregnant it will written on the packet.
Enjoy!

i spoke to my hairdresser. she said theres no issues, however, if i was worried, maybe not do it as often as i normally would. also just be aware that your skin is more sensitive and also with lighter colours it may be slightly different to how it normally comes out. other than that go ahead - i will be doing mine in its normal live xxl red tonight!

I caved in today and used a Herbal Essences 10 minute jobby. Feel so much better! It didn't say anything on the box about pregnant women not being able to use it, and as it's only on your head for 10 minutes surely it doesn't have time to do any harm. I'm 10 weeks + 5 by the way.

I did mine yesterday with Garnier - it's come out pretty good and I'm glad I did it as hair wasn't looking so great before! I did do the 48 hour patch test though just to be sure. Thanks for all the responses everyone!
