I'm only 8 weeks but head already full of so many questions and keen to start sharing experiences with others in their first trimester.. For instance, should I be taking omega 3 in some shape or form? Understand it's not a good idea to be taking cod liver oil capsules but other types of fish oil (not from liver) okay..? All being well, and if you hadn't guessed, this will be my first baby, due 20th Nov (I think!).

Hiya, as long as you're taking folic acid and eating lots of omega3 foods (eggs, sardines, dark green leafy veg etc) then you should be fine without the supplements. Although if you want to take them, they are most effective in the final trimester, apparently! The NHS doesn't recommend supplements for omega 3, here's a link www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/1757.aspx?CategoryID=54&SubCategoryID=129

Congratulations!!
Get Pregnacare tablets from any chemist or supermarket. They are specially formulated for pregnant women with everything you possibly need in them. My Doctor recommended them, but told me to make sure I still ate healthily.

Renaissance227 - Got those! Thanks for the tip tho. Am just in that stage of wanting to do EVERYthing right. Luckily craving healthy foods too - boring but good for me I guess!

That's good then MagGirl. Just make sure you drink lots of water and don't worry too much and you should be fine! Have you made an appointment with the midwife yet? x

Congratulations! Having been through alot of fertility treatment we have been strongly advised to keep up the folic acid throughout the pregnancy. I take the mum to be , sanatogen brand. Eat well, drink loads of fluids but try above all to stay calm and happy (not always easy with hormones making you want to rip doors off hinges on the odd occasion!). Enjoy your pregnant. I went straight to waterstones and got a fab book called the day to day pregnancy book edited by dr Maggie blott which gives you a day by day run down and pics of your pregnancy. Also the mumsnet book is good and what to expect when you're expecting by Heidi murkoff. Good luck. X

BumpyBecs - Got What to Expect which is okay but, needless to say, there are a bunch of things I want to know about that it doesn't cover.. Trying to take things a day at a time. Thanks so much for all your feedback!
