Boys name common to both Christian & Muslim traditions? HELP PLEASE!!!

We are so stuck. We really want to honour both our cultures but boys names are sooo much harder to agree on than girls names! The only name I like common to both traditions is Zacharia but DH's brother is already called that and we have one on our street. I'm not a huge fan of Adam or Sami (bit plain), DH doesn't like Noah (something about an ark). Any name seems like a bit of a compromise at the moment... please help!!

I was going to suggest Adam- but I see you have already thought of that one..Confused There is also Aaron, which is quite nice?

I am of a mixed Anglo/Arab background and my name is Leila, but as you said it is sooooo much easier with girls names.

hahaha I was going to say Adam or Sami ;))))))

We are in the same boat - both hubby and I are half-european half-arabic and it's a nightmare!

Although hubby is insisting on Adam if it's a boy Hmm and since I have no counters I can't argue....yet.

Am only 10 weeks so have lots of time and well, it could be a girl he he he

So funny that everyone is suggesting the same- it must be difficult!!!??

We are going for an Arab middle name, but then my husband is British- so our little girl will only be a quarter Arab..Smile

I am French, Dh is from Pakistan, we decided to go for Elias if it is a boy, but then I am not too sure it is very Christian...

Zain
Danyal
Ilyas - it is also an Arabic name

Leila- think those are the most common since most anglo-friendly possibly?? Aaron was another one I like but we have a loopy relative of that name and just can't shake the connotation IYKWIM... Hmm

Babloo I love Elias but DH doesn't- biblical version is Elijah I believe.

DH thinks Gabriel is creepy?? Confused (DH is not being v helpful!)

Mmm mama2 that's the problemo... lots of names in common but which version to go for? Nice thing about Zakariyah is that it's pronounced the same in both...

Danyal is just the Muslim spelling of Daniel - you will get away with Daniel though.

Hari could be in the bag... is that pronounced Harry or Haari?

.......my friend is english and has a DS with muslim partner. They pronounce it ( Hari ) HARRY, and chose it because apparently it is both an English and Indian name. Suppose you could pronounce it however you wanted.

They chose Mili for their dd for the same reason.

Esah. I think is Jesus in Arabic! I think it's a nice name. After all, Jesus' own name was probably quite common in his own time. How about Joshua?

Funny I am having the same problem, would have picked Adam but my sister has already nabbed it. But I like Adam, lovely strong name with lots of meaning.

My other choice would have been Ibrahim (Abraham) but DP says it is way too ancient and secretly I agree Sad
