Maternity allowance?

Hiya I started my leave two weeks ago and as I didn't qualify for maternity pay from work, I sent away for state mat pay. I sent the form away the day after I finished work as instructed...was just wondering if anyone knows when it starts coming through as I've not heard anything back.

Thanks!

Give them a ring, think it took about 10 days - 2 weeks for mine to be sorted out. In fact got first payment today Grin

Have you actually stopped work, not on annual leave or anything, mine wasn't processed until I had actually stopped. To be honest I found them really helpful when I rang to see what was happening. You get a whole load of bumf detailing dates you are being paid for, how much you are getting etc.

You get paid in arrears I think, so depending on whether you get paid fortnightly or four weekly, you should see something then..

I'm being a bit thick and can't find the number on the internet don't suppose anyone has the one in wrexham's contact? Perhaps it'll be in today as I've opted for fortnightly and its two weeks today since I finished.

Thank you

I sent my form off 4 weeks ago, finally decided to get in touch with them today and it's still being processed.

With DC1 (2009) it took 3 months and they consequently cocked up all our other benefits which now means we owe them. I'm pregnant again and my partner only works part time which makes this all very hard. I am about to start claiming MA again. They will probably have my debt deducted at source which makes life very difficult.

I think we had the worse scenario, partly because I am an agency worker with 4 companies and for some reason they thought I should receive stat mat pay.

Definitely keep records of all phonecalls, send letters and chase them up and insist that everything is organised before your due date as it is a nightmare waiting half hour on phone to talk to some dappy teenager at 9am in morning when you have been up all night. Shock

I am also waiting for mine to be confirmed and come through etc. Do you have to go to the job centre to get it or is it automatically paid into the account that you give details for?

Once you finish work and post them the slip confirming the date you last worked, you should then get a letter in return confirming they have processed your payment(in arrears if necessary) and which week (commencing) it will be paid.

I finished work Fri 28th Jan, posted my slip on Mon 31st Jan (confirming I wanted paid from that date), called them the next Monday to find out what's going on, then received a letter at the start of this week confirming they will start paying it fortnightly (as I requested) from around 14th Feb, into the bank account I initially nominated.

Don't be afraid to chase chase chase though, a pain in the backside but I don't find that they helpfully volunteer any information without you having to call them.

Do you have to wait until you finish work before you send in the form claiming for MA? I thought you could fill everything out and send it in in advance? I have everything they ask for (payslips, declaration from work etc) I don't finish work until the end of March, but was going to send the form off tomorrow...

Jbrd you can send all the forms etc off from 26 weeks. You will then receive a letter which has some extra stuff to fill in. You fill this in when you have finished work and post it back to them and then they set the payments up.

To OP I echo what everyone else has said and give them a call. The Wrexham office number if 0845 608 8610.
