Pregnancy

Unexpected third baby

I've just done a pg test this morning and found myself pregnant for a third time rather unexpectedly (two dcs already, 6 and 2)

For me this is lovely news! Yay! DH and I hadn't planned another (in fact we'd agreed that we'd stop at two) but if I'm honest I never really believed that dc2 was my last. Heart vs head and all that. Had no particular desire to be a mum again but at the same time it wasn't something I'd have ruled out if DH was keen. SO I'm really rather excited (in amongst all the shock and amazement that even with a coil I could get up the spout)

Haven't told DH yet. He was a lot more vehement that he didn't want any more children. Has anyone else been in this situation- i.e. unexpectedly pregnant again when you and your other half had agreed that there were to be no more patterings of tiny feet? Have namechanged for this, not because I am a well known mn-er but just worried that I'd get outed by RL friends.

Congratualtions! Third children are fab, a lot easier than the others. DH was most put out when I told him I was pregnant with DS3 even though we had agreed to another. He got over it and they are the best friends in all the world . Personally I wouldn't be too upset at an accidental no 4 even though DH would be furious, shame I have such reliable contraception.

Oh god just seen that you have a coil......

Congratulations! I love having 3! I was in total shock when I found out I was pregnant for a third time. I was also stopping at two DC's. DH was really pleased but I was panicked. There is only 9 months between my youngest two, so I felt even more anxious. You will both get your head around it in no time. Enjoy!

Hi congratulations, I'm 24weeks with DC3 and at first DP was less then thrilled because he really didn't want any more but now he couldn't be happier. Congratulations again :)

Congratulations! There is another post on here with someone who is pg with DC4 and DP is vehemently oppposed to it. It may be worth reading that thread. (Sorry, don't know how to include the thread in this post). Heading is something like PG with DC4 - In turmoil.

Congrats!

I am 15w pg with DC3 (others are 4 and 2) and this was unplanned (pill, upset stomach?)

OH took it well but he's still in shock really! He was the one not really wanting more. I was open minded but respected his opinion.

I held a 5w old baby today and suddenly got 'the fear' about going through it all over again.

Will be worth it, won't it?

My dd2 (dc3) was unplanned - I had a mirena malfunction!

I was really ill in the pregnancy adn we had a tough few years but she is now 7 (the others are 9 and 11) and wouldn't be without her - our family feels very VERY complete now!

Congrats! We too had an unexpected no 3 , who is now 5 months old and absolutely LOVE it and DH was delighted too- in fact it was me who was more traumatised by the whole thing- was still BFing my DD at the time, so was slightly put-out I wasnt getting to have my body back to myself for a wee while- how selfish!Anyhoo its pure braw now and hopefully your partner will come round to the idea v quickly! What i am VERY concerned about though is all these dysfunctional coils - was gonna get a mirena but now paranoid!! think it might be 'snip' time....( I can hear my husband's girly screams from here....) x

Lol at the girlish screams!

Thanks for all the kind messages.

It's not the mirena coil I've got ladies it's the old fashioned copper one- had it put in when still BF dc2 and so hormones in mirena not a good mix with la boob.

Am a bit worried about telling dh because now I'm pg and happy about it I don't want him to feel like I'm railroading him. I'm a bit surprised actually how I want this baby so much when I've only known about it for a few hours and it wasn't planned! Plus both previous pregnancies weren't fun, I had quite serious hyperemesis all the way through both- so am worried about that too as I know this is one of the reasons DH was reluctant to have more, as well as being not very nice seeing me go through it he was virtually a single parent for months and months because I was either in hospital or lying on the sofa praying for it to stop :(

Don't even know how pregnant I am- my periods have been a bit hit and miss with the coil and so I don't keep track of when they are. I can't remember when my last one was. Plus what about the coil what's happened to that is it dangerous to the baby? Oh my, so much to think about.

My beloved Mil is still looking for her copper coil with some bemusement. DSiL is 29 and a mother of herself now so I don't think there was any lasting harm.

Lol lostinwales!

Just read on here about someone who got preggers with the coil and her little one came out with it stuck to the top of his head- so think it should be ok :)

"OH FUCKING HELL THAT'S ALL I NEED !" He said.

She is now 25 and the apple of his eye along with No. 1 and 2.

I went to friends and sobbed and sobbed and drankWine and smoked. Blush

Remember it takes two to make a baby.

PS. He had the snip later.

Good luck it will be fine.

An old neighbour of mine ( very rural ) said " you don't know you got children til you got 3...1 to shit, 1 to slide in it and 1 to tell you !!
