Positive test and in complete denial. Anyone with me?!

Hi, DH and I have been TTC for almost a year. We already have a DD (2.9yrs) and I have had 2 mcs, PCOS and a bi-cornuate uterus.

I have tested about 12 times with the cheapy dipsticks over the last four days and they are all positive. I have also done an OPK that was positive.

I am convinced they were all wrong! Have just bought a CB that I will do in the morning.

I just can't believe it. I am so scared. I have been waiting for this for a year and now it is here I don't feel ready!

Trying to take it a day at a time and well and truly got my head in the sand!

12 positives is pretty conclusive if you ask me, so congratulations! Grin Will you come back and update after doing the CB test?

I'm 19 weeks pg with my first, and although DH and I were pretty lucky and only TTC for about 9 months, I was still stunned when that second line appeared on the test.

I also didn't trust the cheapy ones and bought a digital. (Wonder how much CB makes from paranoid pregnant women not believing the internet cheapy?!)

congrats!

you could go see your doctor for confirmation and to start your maternity plans. that should help it sink in.

or, you could just beamingly smile all day - wonderful news.

I'm just so... I don't know... in denial!

I think I will test with the CB and then go to the Dr. for bloods. I am worried my hormone levels are skewed with the PCOS and I will mc again.

My last period was 6th December but I didn't ovulate until 12 Jan.

Ooh yes, the doctor! That's the sort of solid practical advice I was groping for Crystylline.

lol Serena

bunchofcoconuts prob the earlier you see the doc the better. I'm 40 weeks and under consultant/shared care because of bicornuate uterus. it's been a bit complicated, so very glad to have had good NHS support and regular appts.

i can understand how you feel tho - and i think it's entirely normal. one step at a time and be happy! it is fab news. Smile

Wooo! Congatulations! I don't think a doctor will do anything other than congratulate you. POAS is pretty conclusive - negative results can be wrong but positive ones never are (although they can be read wrong with evaporation lines and whatnot). But 12 positive tests - that's as conclusive as it gets, I reckon. They might give you an early scan if you lay it on thick about being worried because of previous miscarriages which could set your mind at rest? Yay you!

I'm reluctant to have an early scan as if the sac/foetus isn't visible yet I will go crazy waiting!

crystylline I never had any extra care when I was pregnant with DD eventhough I have the bi-cornuate. It is also retroverted if that makes any difference?

ecuse I was hoping maybe the doctor would send me for a blood test to check all the levels are right.

Perhaps I'll just ring the local midwife for some advice. Eventhough I have done this before I feel like I know nothing.

bunchofcoconuts

they didn't discover mine until i had other problems that turned out to be related - smaller growth being a key one, as he's got less space.

had a series of growth scans and more tests etc and all appears to be ok.

i think you should def raise it with the doctor though - as my MW pointed out, they need to be aware at the very least.

smaller babies? Gosh, DD was 9lb 5oz Grin

Have rang midwives and she said to see GP asap to refer me to the hospital of my choice and try and work out a date.

Have an appointment on Weds 2nd February.

Yeah she was pretty big! I never knew about the risk of smaller babies tho, I just thought you had a higher mc rate as the egg can implant on the septate not the wall and then the blood flow isn't as strong there.

I have knicker checked about 400 times today. Splitting head, feel sick, crampy, and so so tired.

I was the same all the way up to the 12 week scan and then again just before the 20 week but now got more used to the idea at 24 weeks! Finding out the sex helped us somehow

I remember the practice Nurse laughing when I went in and said I had done a test which she raised one eyebrow so I had to admit I mean one every 12 hours for the last 7 days!!!!

I'm back.

I didn't get a digital I just got the one with a plus or minus window.

Positive result within 10 seconds Shock Grin

Doctor Wednesday to discuss plan of action and I will need to call my gynaecologist in case I need more monitoring due to the PCOS.

Thanks Serena, still in disbelief though. After a year of trying I'd resigned myself to the fact it wouldn't happen :)
