38+4 edema swelling up to my knees!

I have had swollen ankles for a while, but in the past week it has spread up to my knees, making it hard to bend my legs. I also have swollen hands/carpal tunnel. My blood pressure has been normal throughout.
Beyond raising my legs and moving around, any other ideas. I feel like I am going to burst!

Keep your feet up as much as possible, drink lots of water. I know what a horrible feeling this is.

Most importantly - get to a midwife/GP IMMEDIATELY tomorrow morning. Chances are you may have a touch of pre-eclampsia and need to be checked out asap. As you are so near your due date it would not be the worst thing in the world if you had to be induced anyway as you are so near anyway.

Please don't worry, it might be nothing, but see the midwife for a wee protein test asap.

Good Luck!

When did you last have your BP taken? Is it up on your booking in BP even if not raised against other people's levels?

Have you had any protein in your urine? Headaches? PET bloods done?

TBH I think you need to see a midwife, sorry to worry you!

My midwife saw me on Wednesday, BP fine, urine fine... Guess it's just the final stages. Going to go for a swim tomorrow I think. Hmm

You need to have your bp checked again asap. Pre eclampsia can come on very suddenly

I agree with the advice on here. Forget the swim and seek medical advice.

PE can come on severely very quickly - not trying to worry you but it really can. You should always get swelling like that checked out ASAP.

Hope things are OK :)

Well, spoke to midwife, who wasn't concerned. Asked about swimming and she said yes. Went swimming this morning. Have seen some bright red blood and clear stuff, now turned dark brown, like end or beginning of period...

You need your BP checking! Not impressed with your midwife I have to say - impossible to know if you have PE on the phone. Please go to your GP at least and have it checked.

I know we sound over the top but it can be very serious if not picked up promptly.
