IJust Want A Bath!!! What Do You Miss During Pregnancy?

My back is achey and I haven't been sleeping properly for ages. I would really, really, really, really love a soak in a nice warm bath, but I am not allowed because of my waters breaking early in my last pregnancy (14+5) and infection risks. Sad It is so tempting to just have one, chances are things would be fine, but it's obviously just not worth the risk, if something happened after I'd never forgive myself. I am 13+4 today, so only 25 weeks or so to go... (hopefully!)

What do you miss whilst pregnant?

Coffee! I know I can have a little bit but I've gone off it - it smells and tastes horrible to me - and I miss a nice big mug of coffee with cream in the morning. Fruit tea or hot water and lemon is just not the same.

All the food I normally like! Runny eggs, chocolate, coffee... All I want at the moment is potato and thick slices of white bread with butter - not a great diet! Ooh, I'm also enjoying dairylea dippers!

You can eat prawns but they have to be hot.

I miss hot baths, coffee, wine, pate, rare steak and runny eggs.

So pretty much everything you're not allowed.

ohh runny eggsGrin although i have read in one book i got from the midwife that as long as the whites are solid then they will be cooked enough to eliminate any danger. would feel wrong though!

whats the hot bath issue?

Report
Tokyotwist · 05/01/2011 20:14

I think it's because of the temp. Your body temp shouldn't go above 37 so bath water would need to be same, which for me is a warm bath. I like it hot hot hot.

Prawns - my midwife said you can eat them from m&s if they are little ones or if you cook them yourself at home not in shells (doesn't matter if hot or cold, important thing is they need to have been cooked properly all the way through hence little ones and no shells)
Hot baths - also love 'em and been having them to help relax BUT have not filled bath too high (so bump not completely immersed) and also only stayed in for 10-15 mins or so as opposed to hours so dont think body temp can go up that quick? Anyway I hop out as soon as i start to feel too hot!

something to do with the salmonella possibility if they arent cooked properly

Sleeping on my front. I'm still early on but sleeping on my front has been uncomfortable for weeks now.

Still, I have a plan (thought of after DD2 was born): when the weather gets warmer I'm going to spend the day at the beach (we live close by) and get DH to dig me a big belly hole so that I can have a nice nap on my front. Bliss.....
