Cervical 'twinges' at 29 weeks

I was wondering if anyone else feels this? I'm still only 29 weeks but for the past 3 days or so have been getting what I can only describe as "twinges" near to my cervix, which feel like the small electric shock of a smear test. Not exactly painful but a wee bit uncomfortable. I don't get it standing up, more if I am lying down or sitting at my desk.

Baby moves a lot and seems to be absolutely fine, I've had no bleeding, cramping or any more discharge than normal :). Could it just be that the baby has moved position and is intermittently knocking against my cervix? I don't have next MW appointment until the 16th but will certainly call them tomorrow if it is any cause for concern.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi
Yes, I often have what I think are quite painful 'cervix' pokes. I think it is quite normal whenever I have mentioned it to the Dr (33wks with DC3) or MW they seem to nod and move on. Perhaps it does depend on what position the baby is in, but mine is head down and Ive not noticed any less in this position.

Good luck!

I've gotten this both times, no one seemed bothered, I figured it was the baby having a prod!

I get this all the time as baby is bum down at the moment (26 wks tmw). Sometimes feels like she is trying to kick her way out which is a bit unnerving. Don't think it's anything to worry about I just assumed it was normal because of her positioning.

Thanks ladies, sometimes all it takes is someone else to say they get the same thing... I realise the cervix softens towards the end but I was starting to think I'd have to cross my legs to stop the little one coming early Xmas Shock

Very relieved, thanks x

I'm 21 weeks, and I can feel the little one kicking or nudging my cervix. I described it as like having a gentle smear test, but from the inside out. Could it be that for you too?

I had this, also started at 28 weeks. It felt like very mild period pains so I called the midwife who told me to come in to the daycare antenatal unit to get checked out.

It was all absolutely fine - but I did have foetal heart rate monitoring and something like a smear test to take a sample of discharge, which was probably the worst part! Once I was reassured that there was probably nothing to worry about, I calmed down. Still got a few twinges to the cervix, but not worried now.

So you'll probably be fine but if in doubt call the midwife
