Am now 14 weeks and whilst I am very happy about it all I still cannot get my head around the fact that there is a wee me or him in there doing it's growing. Finding the whole thing most strange. :o

It'll only get weirder once s/he starts doing backflips in there and you watch your tummy wibble and undulate. Am still weirded out and this is my third pregnancy Grin.

Definitely! I'm 19+2 and am regularly feeling movement but still can't get my head round the fact that I'm growing a whole person.

Definitely am 32+4 and I second adair once bean starts moving and jiggling its the strangest ( but most wonderful) feeling in the world. What is funny is watching peoples' reactions when they see baby moving across your tummy Xmas Grin

Totally understand where you're coming from it was only yesterday at my 20 week scan that I was able to make a clear association between pregnancy and having a baby!!

I'm 32 weeks and still unable to make the connection between being pregnant and having a baby!!

21 weeks and I was trying to explain to DH yesterday what it feels like to carry our baby. Weird! My body still feels like my own, even including my uterus, but the little boy inside it is his own person! How strange is that? I have been felling regular movements since around about 17 weeks and he has grown so much! I just embrace the weirdness :).

One of the weirdest things for me was the thought that I was growing a penis!

LOL Dastardly That's what one of my friends remixes me of should I be carrying a boy. I just can't imagine how it's going to be when I finally start seeing and feeling movement or seeing the odd foot stick out in odd places now and again. It's such a strange thing to be going through and it's only going to get stranger. :-/

I'm definitely still finding it strange that there is a little person inside me living her own little life. I find it strange that some days she really kicks and moves a lot but sometimes she's quiet. I have started being able to get her to wriggle if I haven't felt her for a while just but tickling the side of my stomach. I find that really strange that she is already reacting to things I do.
I'm 26 weeks tmw.

Just realised how many times I said I feel that strange.

the weirdest thing for me was just as I got used to it and as loving it, bub comes out and then it's weird having your body back to yourself. oddly lonely...

I'm so glad to hear other people saying that! I had my first scan this week (13+3) and the whole thing just seems surreal. Can't quite reconcile the picture on the screen with an actual baby in my belly!

bonnymiffy · 08/12/2010 13:19

Phew, I'm glad it's not just me. It started feeling a bit more real after the first scan, and will do more when I've got a bump (currently 15 weeks, no bump yet) but I'm amazed at how tired I get when at the moment there isn't much to show for it all.

I'm 31 weeks and I JUST NOW for the first time saw my belly moving around on it's own Xmas Shock.

Weird doesn't even begin to sum it up...

Tiredness in the first trimester is shocking I think - worse than at any other time until the baby is out.

It is odd...I want to get excited about it all but previous losses have made me wary but Im having another scan next week and cant wait to see a baby shape!

Am amazed at how something SOOOOOOOOOOOO tiny is knocking me out worse than any hangover I have had! (Only thing I can compare the sickness and sore heads on!) and its not even here yet! Its all a little surreal. When i get a bump that will be the most sobering day! Eeeek!! (But a good eek!) Grin

Cant imagine it moving either...xx

yes - all v. weird (but lovely!). I'm currently pregnant with my 3rd and I still find it just as strange as the first time around!

I've only started looking at my scan pics over the last few days, am 14+4 today and had my scan at 12+3 but just couldn't get my head round the fact "that" was in "there" much to DP's amusement Grin

Dastardly, I am so glad you think that. I found the tiredness absolutely debilitating and was dreading the third trimester when it is meant to come back. I don't mind carrying a bigger belly, I just want to be able to function a little! :) I have to say, the middle bit is great.

I was tired in the third trimester but nothing like the tiredness in the first.

Report
Miffster · 09/12/2010 11:07

Yeah the third trimester tiredness is just normal physical tiredness, like carrying a huge rucksack round all day at a festival sort of tiredness, because of the extra weight hanging off your pelvis and spine. Plus everyone can see you are hugely pregnant and they expect you to be tired and make allowances.

The first trimester tiredness on the other hand felt like I had been drugged/poisoned. And I couldn't tell anyone, and I was so worried about miscarrying, and by 4pm every day I wanted to lie down on the office loo floor and cry and die.

Once I was past 14 weeks, bring it on, pregnancy was/is fab.

I am now 5 days away from due date :D

Am 23+3 and am totally weirded out. Picked up our pram yesterday and practised putting it up and down. Had to put it away because the whole idea of why we'd bought it was just so surreal!

I LOVE being pg but I wish I could share the strangeness of it with DP.

Miffster, that is so lovely! I'm with you, first trimester was unreal, I was actually worried that I had developed depression, because I had no interest or ability to move myself off the sofa. But I can certainly cope with carrying a bigger belly around all day, no problem :).

Best of luck with the imminent arrival of your baby! How exciting! :)

DasherandSmugly · 09/12/2010 16:38

Miffster I used to go and have a 15 min kip on the office loo floor every lunchtime during my first trimester with both my pregnancies.

I took my pram out with a big watermelon in it to check that it would hold DS's weight when he arrived Xmas Grin

Good luck with all your arrivals.
