Painful baby movements- when do they start?

Hello

I often read about mums to be complaining about their baby's painful kicks/ movements in the latter part of pregnancy. When does this usually start and is it inevitable ( in a normal pregnancy?)

I am 30 weeks and whilst I feel the baby a lot I would not say it was painful. More like a slight discomfort, at worst. How far does it depend on baby's position too?

Interested in what everyone's experience has been. I'm a first timer as you can probably tell :)

Well i am 36 weeks today and been getting some very uncomfortable movements for a couple of weeks now, not really painful just very sudden large kicks which gives me some discomfort. I sometimes get pain if baby lies in funny position i usually just rub the area until he moves.

My daughter was a very fidgety baby when I was carrying her, but I can honestly say that none of her movements caused any pain. In fact I have never come across anyone who found baby movements painful.

I never found my baby's movements painful - they were uncomfortable sometimes and she made me jump when she gave me a particularly big kick, but they never hurt.

I am 37 weeks (first timer too) and not had any that I would call painful to be honest. I have read that some people get feet kicking in their ribs and I have had some discomfort on my bladder but nothing too bad.

37 weeks first timer, LO has moments of activity. Lying ROT so feet are 'massaging' in an arc across my left side. Hands down near the hip bone. Sometimes feet go under ribs and the heel catches on them and creates a rasping noise, that is freaky more than painful.

It sometimes feels like I'm containing an octopus or a ninja! Typically they aren't painful, but after an hour of 'massaging' it's pretty tender.

LO's been active since 18 weeks, but been in this position from 28 weeks and has got into a pattern of activity.

LO also 'attacks' anything that comes into contact with the bump. Snacks, pencils, drinks anything really. Hard work when I was working at a desk.
