Celery Craving

I am 30 weeks and have craved celery, cucumber and red grapes throughout my pregnancy. Mostly celery, which I thought was a good thing to crave as its healthy. I googled it to see how common it was and it said can cause early labour, contractions and the baby to be lively in the womb - I ate a whole bunch last night and have to admit the baby did not stop moving all night - Has any one else heard this as I do not want to bring on early labour!!

Thanks :)

Haven't heard about the early labour thing but I did hear that celery uses more energy to eat than it provides. All the chewing vs basically fibre and water.

not heard this - have never seen any advice to avoid it either. But Tommy's have a midwife help line you can call with this kind of question in office hours - they are really nice and friendly.

Wish I craved celery or anything remotely green. Am sure it will be fine, its a natural food

I ate 2 sticks of celery with my lunch yesterday, and baby was v active last night so maybe there's a connection.

I ate shed loads of celery when preg with DD1 and have done this time too. Never heard of it being bad in fact it keeps you regular, well hydrated and has lots of Vitamin C. And it is the perfect vehicle for hommous or philli which very much cancels out the zero calorie snack.

I've had Gestational Diabetes with both my pregnancies so have had to find alternative munchies and celery has always been a daily intake.

For the record DD1 was born 2 days before her due date.

Celery is about the only thing I ate when pg with DD, had no bad effects, she was born on her due date and thanks to celery and morning sickness I lost about 2.5 stone in pregnancy.
