Sat here shaking and feeling horrible after blobbing work and going to see MW for booking in appt this morning as wouldn't have got to see her until December. Threw up a toilet bowl full of blood this morning, but forgot to tell mw as was distracted by the fact that I've lost 6kg. Lost my breakfast, then another lot of blood and now just retched a huge amount of dark/coagulated type blood. Anyone know if I should be worried or am I OK to crawl into bed until I have to do school run or should I phone doctor? Sorry very garbled, feeling very ill, just want to be horizontal.

See a doctor straight away, if not, then A&E. It could be Mallory Weiss syndrome, tears in the oesophagus, which I had, but I had only a small amout of blood, certainly not a toilet bowl full.

If no joy - phone ambulance. sorry you are feeling so ill. That amount of blood is not normal. When you say huge amount do you mean cupful or more?

Have you checked your pulse?

Please phone the Dr. Nobody on here can diagnose you, even if you get other people who have had teh same and been fine you still need to phone the dr.

She's referring me to consultant led care. She mentioned drips as she said I look very dry but I was rushing her to be honest because I needed to get out of there to puke. I'll ring docs now. Thanks for your replies.

PHone Dr. Sounds like you have burst a blood vessel somewhere, the clot will have been a scab on it but you have ruptured that again.

If it was coming from your stomach, the acids in there would have started to digest it so it would look very different - brown and nasty. Red blood means it's coming straight from your blood vessels.

And not to diminish your situation in any way, but blood does go an awfully long way, so what looks horrific in the toilet bowl may not actually be as much as you think.

However - you cannot afford to lose too much blood while pg (or really at any other time) so get seen to asap.

Hi everyone - just come back from hospital after a 3 day stay. Thought I'd give you a quick update and say thank you to everyone who helped me in my panic!

Turns out I did have Mallory Weiss and had ketones at ++++ which they said was high and meant severe dehydration. They got me hooked up to a drip with hartmanns and IV'd me cyclizine which made me shake like I was fitting so they switched me to ondansetron and slowly I stopped vomiting and wretching. I was able to keep a little food down. I had an internal scan and it showed that I was expecting twins but one has 'failed' and stopped growing at 4/5 weeks. The other is still there, had a heartbeat and was a normal size. Still vomiting but not as violently just cautiously sipping tomato soup now after I lost my breakfast this morning. Feeling quite down but know I need to just keep going day by day. HG strike 3 is well and truly as horrendous as the other times. Hope you are all well. Thanks again for your advice, concern and help!

Gosh, glad you are feeling a little better and it's a very good job you went in.
Very sorry to hear you lost a twin though.
How many weeks are you? Did the HG last the whole pregnancy previously for you?

I'm 8 weeks privet, although the scan showed I might be more 9 weeks but the sonogrpher didn't want to say for certain until my dating scan. I had HG all the way through with both DS's too so know this is why I'm feeling down. Thanks for your reply Smile

grumblin, so pleased to hear you are ok(ish) and that you have been taken care of in the hospital.
:( about the lost twin for you.
Hope you manage to stabilise the HG (although it doesn't sound likely from your previous experiences :() and stay relatively well in other ways now.
