Why do they break your waters, when its not actually bad for you to born in the caul? I can only understand it if you are overdue and they want to start labour off.

I had my waters broken when I was induced but I know that they also break waters to help labour progress, sometimes the waters don't break for ages and breaking the waters can help things move quicker.
