What temperature would you wash soft toys and baby gym at? I was thinking 30 but that wont do much to sterilise them will it? Can I put the dangly toys from the baby gym in the steriliser afterwards? Also is it safe to put the bendy bits of the baby gym in the washing machine? sorry, boring I know :)

I'm going to wash the mat and soft toys at 40. The bendy bits will break the machine I reckon. If they need it i'll handwash them.

Why would you sterilise a baby gym and soft toys? I'm sure a warm wash is sufficient.

It didn't occur to me to ever wash ours, tbh. I washed baby clothes/linens faithfully, but that's it. Never, ever toys.

60 degrees will kill anything you're concerned about. I would wash it too if it's second hand, just cos you don't know what or who has handled it. With the tubey bits, can you undo one end and slip the plastic out, and restitch it after?

Ethel, think I might do that. Genius ;)

Why don't you just wash the long bendy bits in a hot bath?

I ended up shoving everything in the washing machine at 40. I took the plastic hooks off the dangly toys and I bent the bendy bits so they would fit in the machine and they were fine. Everything came out looking like new, very pleased :)

If needed i sometimes wash things in the bath, put the shower on a really hot setting and use liquid surf and give it a good scrub.

Advice please! I have bought two baby gyms both fabric , I thought I could wash them at 60, but it turns out they both can only be washed with a sponge, not sure this is enough even if I use detol to clean them with, as I really wanted to wash them at 60 to be sure!! Now not so sure what to do, whether to use or throw?? Please help, any advice please ;)

Forgot to mention that they have little lights in some of the fabric pannels and I haven't unstiched them, to find out if they can be removed. They also have melodies/ music pannels, but I think at least this is stored in an open pannel so should be easy to remove, thanks for any advice ;)

My baby gym said cold wash only but I put the base sheet bit in the washing machine at 30 (with a load of toys) and it was fine, they were all fine and came up very clean. I will wash the long bendy bits in the bath.
