Pregnancy

Paraniod? and bleeding

Hi, am about 8 weeks pregnant. I had a small brownish bleed about 2 weeks ago, got sent for a scan which showed everything was fine. On Tuesday had another bleed which was bright red, with a bit of pain in my lefthandside lower back and tummy. Again went for a scan which showed everything was ok but had a patch of bleeding on the 'opposite side' to where the baby is. So told me to rest.

The pain in my back and side has been getting steadily worse and last night was really bad plus i had some more bright red bleeding. Phoned the hospital who told me to come in cos they thought it was a urine infection. Just before I went I bled heavily. Dr exmined me and said y cervix was still closed and my womb was fine. She has booked me in for a scan tomorrow and given me some antibiotics.

This morning I went to the loo and passed a dark red 'clot' about 2 inches long shaped like a pea pod. (Sorry if that's more information than anyone wants!) Am now very scared but not sure if I'm just being paraniod as dr said cervix was closed and all seemed ok last night... but then where did this 'clot' come from??

Just wondered if anyone else has had this??

Thanks x

Dear angelsfield, I'm sorry I can't be of any help but didn't want you to feel alone. Can you phone to contact your out-of-hours doctor for advice or call NHS Direct? Try to keep resting.

Thanks Distel, don't quite know what to think at the moment. On the plus side the pain in my beck has eased off but not sure if that's a bad sign cos of this morning... Just feel so scared of being excited about being pregnant now in case it's all gone wrong...

Hi angelsfield,
I am 13 weeks pg, i have also had a few bleeds i have bled at least once a week since 6 weeks, I also had scans the first three time this happend and the baby was fine. I was told i had somthing wrong with my cervix where cells form on the outside rather than the inside, this can cause bleeding and aparently is very common, i was told not to worry as this can't harm the baby but i still have to have scans just incase the bloods coming from somwhere else.
My gp also told me the more scans you have that say the baby is ok the more likly it is that the whole pregnancy will be ok, it could just be somthing that is going to happen through out your pregnancy.
I hope all goes well for you like it has for me (so far). Let us know how you get on, my fingers are crossed for you.

angelsfield, so sorry oyu are going through this.
Unfortunately you may have to prepare for the worst. I have had 2 miscarriages and in January i had the same as you, discharge at 7 weeks and all fine at scan then bleed at 10 weeks, cervix closed but lost baby at 11 weeks. I need to add though that im currently 24 weeks pregnant and had a bleed at 13 and 15 weeks with this baby too and it did turn out to be a urine infection. Rest is good but wont stop a miscarriage from happening. It sounds like the hospital are being very supportive and i hope that your scan shows positive results. BTW my scan at 13 weeks showed a heamatoma which is a small pocket of blood that was causing the bleed and was probably due to the infection.
Will be thinking of you. Hope my post doesnt upset you and i really hope you and baby are fine.

Also was told at the pg clinic that the pain down one side could be caused by a small cyst which forms on one of your overies which produces chemicals until the placenta kicks in, this can cause some pain, the cyst goes at about 12 weeks.

Hi, thanks for all your messages...
Scan this morning showed baby is fine and I have a bicornuate uterus which means it's got this divide down the middle, baby is in one side and other side has bleed...Dr said it means I'm likely to get more pain in pregnancy! But at least baby's fine at the moment with a strong little heartbeat!!

This is the first time I have been on Mums net. I have had exactly same symptoms - brownish discharge a few weeks ago and again a few days ago with abdominal and back pain- have been a bit freaked out to say the least. Also I live in Spain and have just moved house so I am between doctors and have had trouble registering with new one. Systems are very different here! Finally got appointment for Monday-. So pleased your scan is ok- can't wait for mine, would love reasurance of a heartbeat!

Hi Lisa, really hope you get some reassurance at your appointment and that all is ok for you. Mumsnet is a good way to talk to people who are in a similar situation and get support, it sounds like you could do with some at the moment. Do you know how many weeks you are? Is this your first?

Hiya

Apoligies for hijacking your thread angelsfield, but really pleased all is going well for you and everyone else on here.

I've just been told that I am pg approx 6 1/2 weeks unfortunely I received a blow to my stomache this week and have been to the docs and she reckons that I got severe brusing at the top of my stomach but as I am quite early on in the pregnancy there is no point in having a scan to check.

The best way is to take a nother pregnancy test, one this week and one the next to make sure that the pregnancy hormone is still there.

I find this not reallly reasuring and would prefer to have a scan but I've been told this is not an option at the mo. I'm really worried, I haven't had a bleed though so am I being paranoid?

This is my 2nd pg, my first went to 29 weeks and then I had my dd.

hey alicats,
don't apologise for crashing thread, its what its all about.
I'm really sorry to hear you had a blow to your stomach, you must be really worried. Course you're not being paranoid!! It must be good its a the top of your stomach and you haven't had any bleeding but anyone would want to check out if all is ok.

I can't believe they won't give you a scan, I've had 3 so far because of bleeds (first one 5 weeks). Go back to GP and request one or find out where your nearest early pregnancy unit is, phone them and explain the situation and see if they will agree to see you, I'm sure they will as this is what they're there for! They might ask for a referral from your doctor but if they agree in principal then your GP can't refuse to refer you.

I hope everything works out for you alicats, fingers crossed

Take care x

ThanKs for message angelsfield. Am having a crazy time at work at the moment, this is the first time I have had a chance to turn on my computer since I posted, plus, knackered obviously. I am in my 11th week, so now have scan booked for next week. Hooray!
New doctor is really nice, saw her yesterday and now have to ring midwife too. So its all beginning to happen. Dicharge has now stopped, but am having blood and urine tested this morning! Things are great here as soon as they get your paperwork sorte out!

Thanks Angelsfield for replying, I've been a bit mainic so I've only beed able to respond now.

I did what you suggested and asked the Antenatal Section at the hospital, but they refered me back to my GP, and as explained before she only wants to see me if I get cramp like pains so looks like I'm going to have to wait until my official scan at 11 weeks or so, I wish we had an EPC.

I 'll do another pg test this week aswell but its getting really expensive buying these tests, this will be my 4th one.

and on another note why do they call it morning sickness, I have the nausea feeling all day and its getting more difficult to wexplain why I am rushing to the loo more frequently. I sure I didn't feel like this when I had my dd.

lots of huggs to all you pg ladies out there :-)
