It neer gets old Grin

I was quite tearful though Hmm Managed to hide it I think(!) but it really made it 'real' that I've got another little baby on the way!

Loved discussing my previous births and telling them I want this one at home too.

And I got a big lovely bok and a bounty pack and my green notes.

It feels so real now!!

congrats i think that's the bit that makes it feel a bit more real before the 12 week scan.

Was a bit concerned that they had given you a lovely big springbok though Wink

Congratulations!! I too am expecting number 4 and loved talking through the previous births.

I found that the mw talked to me like i was a human and didnt try to fill my head with all the gumpf like they did with dc1.

When are you due?

i had my booking in appointment 2 weeks ago and it made me feel really worried cause all she did was talk and take notes i was hoping to get the heartbeat checked or something but she didnt do anything like that....my scan is on monday and while i am excited about it i am also very worried cause my friend went for her scan couple of weeks ago...it was he first scan but she was 16 weeks....when then done the scan there was no heartbeat and she had to give birth to the baby the next day cause she was so far on so it has made me really worried about my scan now :(

Oh Claire, how horrific for your friend. Soooo Sad

It is entirely normal that you feel like this in the circumstances, but do remember that what your friend went through was very, very unusual at this stage.

(It is also entirely normal that you will spend the next 25 years feeling sick with worry like this - every few weeks/months, some other crisis comes along. But inbetween there are wonderful surprises, and moments which just melt your heart. Enjoy your scan on Monday. Chances are that all will be fine and seeing your baby for the first time is just magic.)

it was my friends 4th child and i have never seen her in the state she was in that day....i went to the scan with her and it was awful....the little baby had all fluid in its wee belly....got to hold it and all over she had it....it was a lovely little baby and i just worry with little things now but i know i am being silly....its just cause she had no bleeding or pain or anything like that she just went up for a normal scan and gets that news i dont know how i would cope with that dont really think i could :( :( :(

Hi claire,

unfortnatly a booking in appointment is just that, to book in.

They check out mum but don't check babies heart beat - they can't routinly find it until after 12-14 weeks so they tend not to even try.

Try not to worry, x

I have my booking in appointment on Monday - I am so excited!! This is my first and my partner and I are pretty much besides ourselves with joy (and worry, of course).

DP asked if he should be there for the booking in appointment. I said I didn't really think he needed to be there, so long as he was there for the scan. Is this right?

hi ladies

i've said the same as you littlemissfirsttimemummy to my DH. then started to think it was a bit mean! but i think everyone's right that it is literally just booking in. i'd rather he took some time off work later for other things rather than this.

good luck everyone - my booking in appointment isn't until 7 october - i work at a university and this time of year is just too manic to take time off! wish it was sooner though!

littlemissfirsttimemummy definately no need for dp to go to your booking in so long as you know about any significant birth problems on his side. It is just form filling save his time off for the more important appts like scans.

LittleMissFirstTimeMummy · 16/09/2010 16:43

Phew! Thanks suedehead and mum2oneloudbaby - I thought I might be being mean too! And we've been through the family medical history stuff so I know all that anyway.

I don't think I could wait until October. I'm having trouble waiting until Monday!

I hope everyone else's appointments and scans go well. Fingers crossed for us all Grin

my husband came to my booking appointment - luckily ours was on a Sunday so no need for time off work - it was good that he came as there were questions about both our medical histories and I couldn't necessarily have answered all the ones about his :)

Had mine today! Told OH not to bother coming today as it would be very boring, but then my mum ended up tagging along just to keep my company! Smile

Ultrasound scan and integrated test on Monday!

Hello All
Got my booking in appointment with Dr on Monday and hoping that it will make all this seem a little more real! (Have had to pretend I'm going to the dentist to get out of work.) Not entirely sure what to expect - in internal exam? Will she take a blood sample?

Am desperate to know if everything is OK - its going to be really difficult to hold out for the 12 week scan.
