I am only 4+6 pregnant, so early days. We are very excited, but last night had a bit of a bleed. Red, but watery and only when i wiped. I used a tampon as had no pads, and after 5 hours it didn't 'fill' it, only slightly stained the outside. Bleeding has now gone.

Do you think that it could be ok? I am not getting my hopes up, but trying to stay positive.
Is it even worth going to the doctors, as they won't be able to do anything will they, as it is too early.

Any experiences or advice would be so appreciated. We have tried for this baby for ages.

Haven't experienced this but I wouldn't use tampons.

Now that its gone it was probably an implantation bleed, especially if you didn't have cramping.

I don't think the doctors would be able to do anything at this stage.

Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy!

I had a mini bleed at the time my missed period should have been with both my daughters, and many of my friends had the same experience.

Try not to worry, if it is a light bleed and no cramps or clots then dont worry.
If you do bleed more, especially if heavy then see your GP.

I have known people who have had mini bleeds throughout their pregnancies.

It is alwys worth seeing your GP or calling NHS direct if you are really concerned. However, in my experience, this kind of bleed is normal.

I bled for the first 7 weeks of pregnancy and used tampons as I didn't realise I was pregnant (I had had problems with bleeding previously so wasn't abnormal for me to bleed so much). I'm now 36 weeks and have had no problems. I know it's quite common to bleed around the time your next period would be due and as it was so little I would try not to worry. I know that's difficult though. Maybe speak to your midwife about it when you see her and if she's concerned you could have an early scan. If she's not concerned you should try not to worry either.
Good luck

Thank you. i am spending today on the sofa (waiting for a new mattress so a legit reason to be in doing nothing all day Grin), and hoping that the bleeding stays away!

Try not to worry (easier said than done, i know) and I think they recommend you don't use tampons as they can increase the risk of infection.

i had a bleed when i was nearly 5 weeks they gave me a scan and there was a little sac with a dot in there so they said it looked fine and all went ok. they put it down to implantation bleeding.
congratulations

beckie - did you go to the dr straight away? I cannot get out until tomorrow anyway. I wonder if they would give me a scan?
Could it be an implantation bleed? I thought that inplantation bleeds where before a period was due, not after you had done the test (but I do not know obv!). Can you have an implantation bleed as late as 4+6? (I found out i was pg last Friday).

there supposed to be but they say they can occur after, i phoned doctor and they told me to go to a+e they took my hormone level first because if its got to be over a certain amount so they can see something. it depends when you actually concieved they told me from my lmp that i was 4 weeks but my scan showed that the foetus was 5 week old so i had concieved then had a normal period. so say you could be anything from nearly 5 weeks to 2 weeks depending on when you concieved. just ring your doctor for advice

I had a brown discharge at 4 weeks and then a small red bleed every week from 7 weeks to 12. I'm now 31 weeks and all is going well. They couldn't tell where the bleeding came from but said it was not coming from baby and was probably from my cervix. This can happen due to increase in hormones.I was also told it's pretty common too. So if you're not get cramps and it's not heavy, I wouldn't worry too much. Easier said than done I know! Good luck
