Has anyone else's baby had this and what was the outcome? I'm really worried!

Have you searched MN? There's an ongoing thread on this which might help you.

I know nothing about this but good luck, fingers crossed. Smile

I had this on my 12 week scan. It was really stressful. Got referred to a heart scan at 20 weeks but managed to get the scan early at 16 weeks. Everything was ok. 95% of babies with reverse flow are ok. Have u been referred to a heart scan? If not make sure u ask for one.

Thanks crunchy - I've found it and will join that one instead.

Lia - I haven't been referred for a heart scan. First of all the sonographer said he would organise one for me at 16 weeks and then later on when he gave me his report, he said that he wouldn't refer me because the nuchal was under 3 (though he said it was high at 2.85) so the plan would be to have the 20 week scan as usual and then if anything was spotted, I'd be sent for a cardiac scan then.

He didn't actually mention the reverse flow - I noticed it on the report and then looked it up. I wondered if he wasn't very confident in his result or if it wasn't a big deal in his book...

Hi Remember,

I'm 17 weeks now, and apparently my baby also has this. I was so upset and worried at first, but when I went for a second scan when I had my CVS, the consultant then seemed pretty laid back about the whole thing and said that some babies have it, some don't, a lot of babies with DS DO have it (which is why it's a soft marker for downs), some don't. He also said that often the reverse flow 'goes away', not sure how Hmm but I trust him as he is a specialist at Kings!

The results of my CVS were fine, and baby doesn't have DS and so far all appears okay with him (if that reassures you at all). I'm not sure what will happen now with regards to this reverse flow, but I guess it will be checked out again at my 20 weeks scan. Just trying not to worry until then- no one else seems to be!

Would be interested to hear from anyone else though who has had a baby and all was okay, or if it wasn't after 20 weeks scan, what happened/what did you need to do i.e. op on baby
