Anyone due in April 2004?!

Hello!

I found out last week I was pregnant, and although I've not been to my GP yet, various websites and Miriam Stoppard have told me I'm due on March 31st/April 1st! (poor little april fools baby - let's hope it's late...).

I know it's early days, but wanted to start this thread as I've already got lots of questions - like, is anyone else having quite bad pains? I've been getting bad period-type pains, which have been worrying me, but I understand people do get (this is my first pregnancy by the way!).

Right, that's it - hope I get some company soon..!

Hi
Am due March 2nd 2004 and this is my first pregnancy too. Have also been getting these pains, so is quite reassuring. Have got a great book in DK K-I-S-S series, this has been really helpful.

Oh Hi Dot1!!!! You got April off then! Well I'm due around the 26th and my first was over a week late so I may have a little flip between the two threads! I just wanted to reassure you about the pains. I too have had them since I implanted 3 weeks ago. I have had several mumsnetters tell me these are normal but I didn't get them with my first or my miscarried one. Just wanted to say good luck!!!!

thanks - they were so bad at the weekend I nearly fainted... They seem to have gone off now - which of course I'm also worrying about! But I haven't had any other bad signs - no spotting etc. I've got an early scan booked for 3 weeks time, but it's soooo hard waiting that long!

That's really good Dot, I don't get treated that well here! I had to ring my consultants Sec up and beg for an early scan after m/c but even then she doesn't know what will happen as there's no procedure. Its terrible here. I had a m/c at 15 weeks but the baby was 8, so you can imagine I don't want that to happen again, be carrying around the poor thing, so I wanted a scan at 8 weeks. Fingers crossed. Were your pains like period pain? I think in the first 12 weeks I'm told reliably by mumsnetters it can happen. As long as you have no bleeding or a temp, pls try not to worry. If this is your first pg, your body will be adjusting to it's new role!

thanks Quackers - I have to confess it's a private scan! Because of my thyroid problems and PCOS (and general worrying), dp and I thought 'sod it' and booked a private scan with the fetal medicine centre - £100 but peace of mind (hopefully!). I'll then have the normal 12 week and 20 scans.

Yes, my pains have been just like period pains - I tend to have very bad painful periods, and the pain's been just the same.

It's dreadful you don't automically get an early scan after what happened last time - I really hope they sort themselves out and you get one organised.

Oh thanks Dot! Yes I was recommended that centre but I live sucha long way, I have to go on the boat or plane to go anywhere! I will see if my consultant will get me one, if not I'll have to just book one privately.
Sounds painful, but no bleeding is a very good sign you're ok so far. Look after yourself!!

Dot1 - hope joining this thread is good luck for me as it seemed to be for all the people on your other thread when you found out you were pregnant! Think I may be pg - and I'm really hoping I am. Have had period type cramping since ovulation day last Wednesday and starting to need to go to loo more than usual. Also sure all the blue veins on my chest are re appearing. This could all be wishful thinking but this month I feel like I'm chilled and 'yeah I'm pregnant' whereas last month I think it was all wishful thinking. If I am pg then I'll be due in April. Have a ds of 9 months but trying again now as getting on a bit and I have PCOS too! Please send me lucky vibes!

Said wishful thinking twice there I note. Brain like mush these days.

Ahaha Blue cow, another symptom!! Good luck!

Oh Quackers that's what I hoping! Also cannot write a word properly - keep missing off letters (which is something my mum says she always used to do when she was pre menstrual) or writing the letters in the wrong order. But don't think I'm premenstrual cos I never usually get any symptoms. Everything crossed.

I had cramping every day after ovulation, still do. Any other symptoms? What day are you on? Ie how many days since your last period? Is it too early to test?

Report
bluecow · 28/07/2003 16:38

I'm day 20 but dunno when to test as my periods are all over the place. Have had four since ds was born in October; they were 34 days, 30, 28 and 25 - getting progressively shorter cycles!
The mild cramping is the main thing. I think I got the cramps when I got pg with ds last year but wasn't expecting to be so just ignored them! It feels like my muscles are pulling a bit all over the place.
Might test some time next week if I can wait that long.

Report
quackers · 28/07/2003 16:43

Gosh, similar to me. I had a miscarriage in March and my cycles were all over the show afterwards! Started off with 34, then 29, 27 and 25. I did my pg test on day 22/23. I knew I was. I had only implanted the day before but felt such strong signs i could bear it no longer. If your last cycle was 25 days matbe wait till 24/25 days?? Oh good luck, all the best!

bluecow · 28/07/2003 16:57

Quackers - how did you know you'd implanted? Did you get a bleed - or did you just 'know'?
I will be strong and wait till next week to test cos if I test too early and get a negative result I'll be devastated, even though I may be, as dh always so charmingly puts it, up the duff!

Report
quackers · 28/07/2003 17:05

Charmin!!! I had a little bleed, yes. Haven;t had that before though. It doesn';t always happen does it. Yes try and wait cos those sticks aren't always accurate. I just knew I had conceived day 12 so had waited 10 days.

Bluecow - good luck!! It's really weird 'cos I've started getting these blue veins down my boobs aswell - eugh! They only just appeared yesterday - it's so strange feeling like your body is being taken over!

So, I really hope it's good news for you!

Quackers - Isn't the waiting awful? I noticed the veins at the weekend and when I was trying on a bra in M and S on Saturday I looked in the mirror and thought, 'oooh I'm sure they weren't like that before'. Still feeling a bit tender and full round the tum. Oh boy, so hope I'm not making it all up! I have this odd sort of confidence about it and am swanning round work thinking 'you don't know it but I'm pregnant again'. Also have a salty type taste in mouth. Didn't get that before with ds.

Hi dot1! I've found you now! Good to know other people have had the same sypmtoms with everything ok. I have been sending you positive thoughts all weekend. I'm sure all will be ok. ds's need another playmate!

I feel really blue today. No reason why - suppose it must be hormones. Hope it's pregnancy hormones and not pre menstrual ones but they got to me so much I was even wondering if I wanted to be pregnant again. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.

Hey Bluecow - any news? Is it too early to test yet?

Meanwhile I'm still getting stomach cramps - kind of a dull ache most of the time - very tiring... and also (and sorry if this is too much information!) the runs! Has anyone else experienced this in pregnancy? I don't know if I've got a stomach bug, or if it's to do with being pregnant, but I'm getting a bit fed up of it! I feel well in myself, just have to dash to the loo a few times each day..!

Ah well, I'm seeing my GP on Monday - poor sod!

Hi dot1, I was complaining of the same thing yesterday. I have been so nervous I think it was that. Fine today as I have been calmed a little by my early scan being next week I'm told time I don't have very strong symptoms still.

bluecow · 31/07/2003 12:16

Dot 1 - I'm day 22 but cos my periods are all over the place (25-34 days since had ds) I am being strong and trying to hold off till next week! Do still feel very mildly crampy and so hoping I'm pregnant cos I don't normally get pre menstrual symptoms.
I get the opp. prob to the runs - got it now which I had when got pg with my son last year and was my first clue I might be pregnant. It could be something called overflow which is (stop reading if you're eating your lunch!) when you get a bit bunged up and so your gut tries to overcome it by giving you the runs. Mmm, lovely.

great.... my dp never had any of this when she was pregnant! Not one stomach ache, or any sickness etc. (but it was a horrendous birth, so maybe I'll have a nice straightforward one!).

It could be nerves I suppose - I think I'm worrying about it all the time, although I'm trying to keep calm.

Quackers - good news about you having an early scan!

Fingers crossed for you Bluecow.

Hi dot1
I found out i was pregnant last August ( and now have a little cutie pie daughter, 10 weeks old). For the first 5 weeks or so I was convinced I was getting my period, they went on even after I'd done the test up until maybe 10 weeks. Nothing in the books (except 'The Best friends Guide'really mentioned this pain. But when I chatted to other people about it, it turned out loads of people I know had it!! I was really worried, but eventually they went away and I didnt even notice! Enjoy the rest of your 9 months!!!

Dot1 - think you got the short straw then! At least your dp knows what the whole process is like. Unlike my dh who spent most of his time in the labour room reading AutoSport!
Could well be nerves giving you the gippy tumy. No point telling you to try and relax because i know it's so hard not to worry. But as each day goes by your little person is getting bigger and stronger.
