Friday 13th? Grin

Tongue in cheek thread obviously but as much as I want this baby out (39+5 today) there is a tiny voice in my head going 'ooooh bad luck' Grin

same thoughts going through my head but my g'ma was born on fri 13th and she always maintained it was lucky. She even lived at number 13 in two different streets in her life!

I'm 37+6

any signs that its imminent Peppa? i think i had a bit of a show last night

I'm 37+3 today and hadn't really thought about Fri 13th but am hoping not to give birth until September (due Aug 31st). Not a lot we can do either way but have no impending signs of labour and DS was 2 weeks late!

I'm 40+12 started cramping in the night and have had a bit of a show... to be honest I'm beyond caring.... if the baby wants to come out today I'll be very happy!

Me too! (i am 36 + 5)

I'm off for a scan later (presentation check as having a home birth) and even this is making me a bit Hmm cos it's Friday 13th!

Good luck with the leg crossing girls!

2 of my friends children have birthday's today.
The eldest was born after a 2 day labour, I don't think holding on for another day would have been something my friend would have given headspace to!

I had a presentation check for a hb, standard in our area. I went into labour the next day!

Me too (38 +3)

I completely forgot it was Friday 13th. I was hoping not to go into labour as I have a facial booked which is a big treat for me :) which I'd have to pay for if I cancelled without giving them 24 hrs notice!

Report
Allegrogirl · 13/08/2010 10:20

I'm 38+5 and it hadn't occurred to me what the date was. I switched off my brain when I started mat leave last week. I'm more worried about missing a hair cut and dinner with the girls tomorrow.

By the way had my presentation scan for HB last week. Is standard practice here.

Report
DancingOnMyBladder · 13/08/2010 10:33

Hi yes it is standard here. I only booked it yesterday though as my usual midwife is on holiday and it got missed but luckily they could fit me in.

I wouldn't worry though. My previous two were HB and the first was unplanned and no scan then.

Glad you like then name - very apt! Smile

CS were they Friday 13th babies though??

I gave birth in April 2007, Friday the 13th of that year was quite a popular day for my AN club to give birth (not me though) there were 4 or 5 of them. All doing well I think :o

tweakers · 13/08/2010 10:36

thanks for info!

mw had trouble determining position last week because my stomach was too hard! but ok, i won't worry about it Smile

My BIL was born on Friday 13th I think (was definitely born on the 13th Grin). His life seems fine so far Smile

Have checked - he was born on Friday 13th

Report
DancingOnMyBladder · 13/08/2010 10:45

The midwife i saw this week said he probably wouldn't bother as he was 99.9% it was ceph and partially engaged but since it's offered here i wasn't going to pass up another look at my bubs. My mum also works on the reception of the scanning dept so slotted me in at short notice Smile

You'll be fine. Palpating to determine the position is something midwives are very good at and i would say rarely not pick up on a breech issue.

I was going to ask for a c section today on the basis I was fed up and I thought no one else would want one on fri 13th! But she came of her own accord on Wednesday at 41 weeks so no need in the end!

Report
StealthPolarBear · 13/08/2010 10:54

ahh congratulations :o

Yes, bet the hospitals were busy yesterday wil c-sections, and will be again on Monday

tweakers · 13/08/2010 10:55

congratulations summerlightning!!

dancing... a male mw? how refreshing! oh and i don't blame you for having an extra scan! have you got your 'birthing area' sorted? finally got round to starting mine last night but its still a WIP!

Report
ChasingSquirrels · 13/08/2010 11:42

that a good point - never crossed my mind! Just checked, and no neither of them were a Friday.

I went into labour within 48 hours of my late scans with both children.
ds1 - scan at end of 36 weeks because I was measuring small for dates. On having scan it was obvious that the baby had dropped down (his head was so firmly lodged down that they couldn't get measure it). He was born 2 days later and for a 37wk baby wasn't "small" at 7lb.

ds2 - scan at end of 36 weeks for presentation for HB. Born the next day, again 7lb.

I think I just do early babies.

39 + 3. Woke up feeling kinda pleased nothing had happened in the night (as had done with previous 2dc) so as not to be born on Friday 13th but now I am SO FUCKING TIRED AND irritable with other dc and this pregnancy full stop that Friday 13th would end up being my lucky date forever I reckon!

Sorry to rant...

my godson was born on Friday 13th exactly 4 years ago today and he's lovely so again, today would be GREAT!!!

BRING IT ON...Wink

My little man is 2 today but was born on a wednesday by c-section. Will be honest and say that the first thing that went through my mind when they gave me the date was that he would end up havinhg birthdays on the friday every so often!!

On another note my ex got married on friday 13th last year!! Unfortunately everything went smoothly! (only joking we do actually get on so i am quite happy for them)

Grin I am very achy and tired but nothing more. Got to that stage where I think he is staying in forever.

Have decided already it is fine for him to be born today if he just gets out!

I never had a presentation scan for HB either by the way which was probably good as it turned out she was almost brow which in hospital might have meant a CS or forceps but got her out fine at home
