In excruciating pain when I walk... Whats going on??!

Please could somebody advise me on what my problem may be...

I just walked to the toilet and suddenly had a pain like a hot poker being stabbed into the top/back of my pelvis every time I put my left leg down. It doesn't hurt when I sit down or when I first stand up but as soon as I take about 4/5 steps the pain comes back, does anybody know what this might be?

I have also had bad back pain for the last 4 weeks, I have a physio app next week, not sure if the two could be connected?

TIA

It sounds like it might be SPD - hope it's something more temporary than that :(

Thank you Kirsty! Should I call my MW about it? Or should I just wait until my physio app?

How many weeks are you? If it's in your pelvis it could be SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction) which is common in pregnancy.

I could be wrong as I don't know what SPD feels like as I haven't had it and I'm not sure if it comes on suddenly or gradually. I'm sure someone more in the know will be along soon.

Sounds like SPD, and I'm afriad you might have to fight to get heard. Read up on the pelvic partnership website. I got told to exercise, that it was normal aches and pains and so on, until I couldn't actually walk any more, and I am pretty sure I may have done some permanant damage, but for most people it stops when they give birth.

The quicker you can get treatment, the better. You can be treated when pregnant and breastfeeding makes no difference.

Have had a look at the website, thanks for that :) I haven't had back problems in the past and thought the back pain I have been having is just from the extra 3 2.5 stone I have been carrying around Blush

I will ring my MW tomorrow and quiz her about what it may be, I'll be very :( if after a so far easy pregnancy (no MS or anything!) I get stretch marks (appeared Friday) and SPD in the same week!! As my friend warned me... The pregnancy gods are indeed fair!!

Thanks for the help ladies.

could it also be related to a strong sciatic pain? I know Im having trouble walking and feel it in my pelvis and back which is related to sciatica too!
Hope its not SPD, icky!
