Can't stop eating (rubbish!) inspiration please

i'm 14weeks and eating like a horse, all day every day. didn't help that we had a party for my boys a few weeks ago and the house was full of crisps and chocolate that we're only just finishing! have always been a healthy eater but am getting carried away with sweets and chocolate so looking for inspiration for quick and easy snacks please...am trying to have a bowl of cereal, banana or toast between meals and even nutrition build up drinks but it never feels like enough - i'll have one of those then a couple of biscuits on top. great timing with all the pregnancy and obesity stuff in the press but i'm doing a fair bit of excercise and running round after 2 boys so my body needs fuel!

Slow release carbs are supposed to be the answer, not sugar. So bananas, pasta, pulses, nuts, wholemeal bread etc. I was hopeless too when I was pregnant except that I made lots of home made flapjacks and ate those.

do you like porrige? with bits of dried fruit? it's quite filling.
toast doesn't really do you any good, unless thick wholemeal bread and no butter.
Oatcakes and hummus; peanut butter (very much in moderation); home made smoothies (yogurt+fruit blended etc) are all good.
i'm not practising what i preach - am also eating a load of rubbish. have just a packet of pickled onion Monster Munch crisps. not had them since schooldays! they were tasty but my breath now tastes disgusting and i am mortified. have also eaten a large slice of DS's birthday cake and two bits of buttered toast. got to stop as no desire to pile on three stone like i did last time round!

if you are like me, the "filling" aspect of the food was actually irrelevant, cos I eat whether I am hungry or not. I have had to either stop buying treats completely, so that they are simply not there, or buy lower calorie treats - eg eat a KitKat (109 calories) instead of a Twix, kind of thing.

I also buy all the fruits that I enjoy, eg nice melon and cherries etc, and make myself eat them every so often, so AT LEAST I am getting something good into me too.

Finally, I also try to eat a fairly low-cal dinner, such as thai fishcakes with some rice and veg, so that even if I DO stuff my face with rubbish, then I'm not making it worse by having loads of calories for dinner too.

Hope that helps. x

I have been an absolute fat b*stard nightmare for each and every 12 weeks of my current pregnancy. Started eating chocolate when my period (yeah, the one I missed and never saw again) was due, and haven't stopped since.

I too feel as if the pregnancy/obesity issue in the media has 'great timing' and that DP will pass comment any day now!

My BMI was almost 30 when I found out I was pg so I need to calm down quite a lot. I gave up smoking though, so maybe that's the issue

I was nauseous every day with my last DD and I could only stomach potato waffles, crisps and apples so I made sure to take a good pregnancy multi-vitamin so that I didn't have to worry about forcing down something that was good for me but made me feel 10 times worse, I know you should always try to eat right but sometimes you have to go with what will stay down!
