Hi, Is their anyone out there that has had 4 miscarriages in a row, then gone on to have a baby???

Its really strange whats happened to me, I already have 2 children, aged 8 & 3 with no problems at all. Then about 12 months ago me & my husband decided to try for 1 more, so i came off the pill. I fell pregnant 4 times & each time i miscarriaged early between 5 to 6 weeks. I went to the doctor she did blood tests which came back fine & then she sent me for a scan which also came back fine, she said to keep trying but i'm really scared to!

Can anyone advise me please???

Hi mrsjbarlow

I have had 7 mc's,

I had one before having DS1, then I went on to have 4 mc's before having DS2, I have since had two more since DS2 was born 3 years ago and currently pg now (and shitting myself!)

Do you know what blood tests where done and what they looked for in the scan?

Where your other births natural or sections?

I only ask because I have had two sections and have a lot of scarring which consultant said could be the cause of mc's but I also have a septate uterus and a clotting disorder so I take aspirin, clexane and progesterone as well as a higher dose of folic acid.

The only advice I can give really is to double check you have had all the tests needed and keep going if you have the heart.

Sorry to hear about all those miscarriages

I thought you could get some investigations done after 3 concurrent miscarriages. I'm sure someone more knowledgable on thse things will be along soon, but I'd feel inclined to go back to the GP and ask for a referral....

Thanks for the replys,

The blood tests where to check for antibodies & I had a scan to look inside to see if they could see anything wrong.

I've also had 2 c sections, i wonder if thats anything to do with it???

I'm going doctors again today so hopefully they will refer me?

But last doctor just told me to keep trying!

Don't know if c sections have anything to do with mc to be honest, doubt it though?

"Keep trying" isn't exactly helpful advice is it, I would advise you to push your doc for a referral for more help/further tests when you see them today.

I don't know if whereabouts you live in the country affects the help that you get, but I'm also pretty sure that if you have 3 mcs in a row you are entitled to further help.

Good luck with your doctor!

Hey Mrs B. Just to say to hang in there, and it may well be nothing more than REALLY bad luck. I had six miscarriages in a row before I had my ds. Was so weird - every month we tried for a baby, I got pregnant. Felt like I was getting pregnant TOO quickly, because each one failed. I had tests and lots of early scans - each mc was different.

Had all the tests going and there really was nothing wrong with either me or DH, was just exceptionally bad luck.

So honestly, do what your doc says and don't give up hope, keep trying! And don't do what I did and obsessively google recurrent miscarriage, although it is very tempting. I was convinced I had everything from dodgy eggs to blood clotting disorders. All a load of rubbish.
