Cannot believe I am still not in labour. Have been doing all the above for 3 weeks now (am 40 weeks). Can't stand curry and cannot walk more than 100 yards!

TMI warning: Had sex last night (even had an orgasm and enjoyed it ). This was in addition to my 2nd sweep yesterday morning kindly administered by my sympathetic midwife and still BUGGER ALL.

Was told I was 3cm dilated (4th pregnancy) and cervix soft etc. Consultant at hospital who did the 1st sweep told me a week ago that he did not expect me to last until the weekend (just gone). At this rate I will end up with a c-section next week (was trying for a VBAC) just after the older DCs have started their school holidays - NICE! That means our family holiday in mid August will also be out as I will not be able to travel that soon after a c-section .

Also have SPD, scatica , nausea, extreme knackeredness and irritability (feel so sorry for the DCs - they have a mother from hell at the moment). .

Will hopefully be trying reflexology (if the bloody people will answer their phones) asap. Any other ideas??

Oh no, poor you! Raspberry leaf tea is meant to be good, has to be raspberry LEAF tea not just raspberry tea! But apparently it works!
Hope that helps!

have you tried bouncing around on a birth ball - this got thigns moving with my last and now when I sit on it I get loads of BH (dont think she is ready to come yet I am only 37+5). with my last she was in an awkward position and i think the ball helped her get in the right place as soon as she did things kicked off properly!

good luck

oh I just have a cheap argos exercise ball not a special one.

You could try a gym ball I sat on one for a full evening and was in labour by 11pm.

Gymball - one thing I have not tried yet (did have one but the DSs left it in the garden for ages and I binned it as it was yucky)!

I did'nt realise it was good for positioning, I thought it was just for comfort!!

Will waddle into Argos later. THANKS

Will also try to get to Holland & Barrett for the RL tea. Thanks NoTea

this bit says how to do it - I was told to sort of circle my hips around like it says her by the midwife last time.

40+6 here and have done all of what you have mentioned (except sweep as yet) and baby is showing no signs of budging at all (DC3)

I have been bouncing on my sodding ball forever to no avail, I am sick of curry, sick of pineapple, clary sage smells fucking awful, RLT tastes fucking awful, really cannot be arsed with sex again and my nipples are bloody sore.

I feel nauseous, I am fed up of shitting on the toilet all day, I have cramps, backache, strong BH's (and have done all for the last 3 weeks) BUT NO BLOODY BABY!!!!!! Every movement baby makes makes me take a sharp intake of breath as its so painful and uncomfortable plus my cervix feels like its being stabbed.

Got horrible midwife tomorrow for sweep which she reckons only has a 50% chance of working anyway, so whats the fucking point...? So really appt tomorrow is only to book bloody sodding induction day. They let you go 12 days over here so looking like Sunday - thats AGES away!

Not sure how much more I can take

God, sorry to rant on your thread! I do empathise with you though!

Pineapple/curry etc are just bollox old wives tales, so not suprised they're not working. The only self-help things that have any scientific basis are: sex, and nipple twiddling. But you have to twiddle A LOT, like 3 hours a day - good luck if you fancy that!

41 weeks here. Looking at induction next Monday - deep joy.

as a mother of 4 dc ,id like to say i never went into natural labour!!they spent days trying to induce me on all 4 ,doctor said she thought it was because for some reason i didnt get the hormone telling my body it was time to deliver, very stressful!!was advised not to have anymore.so maybe theres nothing you can actually do but wait for sunday.

Castor Oil.
I did this with DC3 at 38 weeks a I just couldnt deal with the SPD sciatica anymore. A friend in the Us said it's still done over there and after lots of reading it seems the risk is dehydration from D&v.

I drunk a bottle mixed with OJ (you have to stir it as you drink it or it congeals)I tok it at 10pm had a bit of diarheah (sp?) went to bed woke up as normal went downstairs to read my book and have a cuppa within 20 mins I was having contractions every 5 mins and she was born 2hrs 18 mins after my 1st contraction.
Its is disgusting and even though Im 39+5 now Im not sure I could do it again but it done the trick - a couple of other friendsa have done this at term and its worked within 24 hrs for all of us. Just make sure you take on loads of fluid if you do it.
BTW get someone no pregnant to get it from the pharmacy as they wont sell it to a obviously pregnant woman.

Hope you get the VBAC.

I feel your pain and discouragement willow. 41weeks here, also dc3, same as you, cramps, backache etc Like yourself have tried bloody everything, just feels like its never going to come out. cant even be bothered to try anymore, have done the walks(with bloody painful spd) sex, clary sage, stretch and sweep etc and nothings working so I kinda feel whats the bloody point.

feel pissed off also that the weathers changing again this week, last week would of been perfect for labouring, this weeks predicted heatwave sounds nothing short of a nightmare.

My dsis also went into labour using castor oil, but I wouldn't recommend it as she got awful Diarrhea to go with the ctx.

Are you near any countryside? Cos if you can find a very bumpy lane and get your DH take you for a drive along it, it might help. I went into labour after doing that when I was 11 days overdue. Bloody uncomfortable, obviously, but worth a try if you're going insane with waiting.

If you have a breastpump you could have a go at that rather than just sat twiddling your nipples? .

I had acupuncture to hurry things along at 41 wks because there was no way I was going to be medically induced, and it definitely worked: if you're in London investigate the guy at the Active Birth Centre, he's great.

Had reflexology at lunchtime today. Nothing so far, except an even worse bad back than I had before even though she 'treated' my back as well .

Bloody painful fingernails in the old tootsies too .
