Potty training

Weeing everywhere

I posted this yesterday in behaviour/dev not realising there is a potty training thread... So hoping for a better response here.... :D

DS 2.9 has been toilet trained since about new year. I didnt push him into it to start with, he wanted to wee/poo on the toilet and I was happy to go with it. He was doing brilliantly and I was amazed at how easy it was. We only had the occasional accident, but remained in a nappy at bedtime.

Now its like he's regressed, he literally doesnt bother to tell me when he wants to go anymore, he just lets go and wees wherever we are, whatever he is doing.

If I ask him if he wants to go/actually take him to the toilet he most often refuses point blank to sit on toilet or potty. He will wet himself minutes later, and climb out of his clothes.

Im so sick of doing the nice mummy thing, "nevermind, oh an accident" whatever, its starting to drive me a bit crazy and its making me mad with him. Mainly because he keeps weeing on the sofa or the carpet or anywhere, in Tesco/Boots at friends houses... you name it. I dont know what to do except put him back in a nappy full time.

Can anyone help? please please... Oh he poos with no problem at all and will tell me when he needs to go...

sounds like it might be time to introduce rewards......have you thought of a reward chart or a big bag of chocolate buttons?

sunchild Hmm, no idea what to suggest, I'm new to this but completely agree that it's v difficult to keep doing the "oh well nevermind" thing when you know they're capable of getting to the loo/potty. Someone on another thread said 'how are they supposed to know that it's undesirable behaviour' if we don't make it clear. But then again I appreciate that making too much fuss can be detrimental and I'm terrified of giving DD a complex so am sticking with plan A for now. Best of luck whatever you decide
