Potty training whilst pregnant- help, advice needed!

I need some advice on whether or not ive made the right decision. I have been putting off potty training my 2.5 yr old. Originally I said early sept but bailed on that idea at the time and put it back to October half term. Im 30 weeks pregnant now and always said I wanted her potty trained before the new one arrived but now im having second thoughts.

She seems to be ready. She tells me when she needs a new nappy and seems excited about potty training by telling everyone she meets "im going to do potty training with my mummy" etc but when it comes to sitting on it for a practice run she wont sit on it. I put her on the toilet tonight before bath time and she went completely beserk and looked really frightened. I abandoned it right away, comforted her and put her straight in the bath.

So the questions are

  • is it a bad time to be potty training when im heavily pregnant?
  • Will she just regress anyway when the baby comes in early January?
  • Am I rushing it too soon if shes not cooperative with sitting on the potty when asked?
  • If I do try tomorrow, do I just let her go nappy free/bare bottom or put her new pants on (which she seems really excited about ie she talks about them and likes to look at them and choose her favourite)
  • Do I keep putting her on the potty every 30 minutes or just ask her if she wants to go?
  • Am I setting myself up for stress having to mop up accidents at home and deal with accidents when out and about/finding toilets quickly etc when im feeling huge and uncomfortable?

Im just having a freak out about it as i planned to start tomorrow and its the evening before and ive never done potty training!

Thanks for reading.
