Potty training

90 degree wee (and she's a girl)

Another day, another bloody issue while potty training DD. This time I feel wretched because it's all my fault.

We've done the softly-softly approach - an hour here, a half day there without nappies (normally naked as it's been hot and sunny and we've been in the garden) and gradually DD has gone from running away from her wee shrieking "what IS it?!" to deciding she's through with nappies (albeit with lots of twists and turns on the way).

She was great at home, but holding everything in out and about so she didn't have to use public loos. I came on here and someone suggested a potette, which worked a treat. We were out in the world, weeing freely and all was well until... I don't know how exactly but I got her on the loo on her potette at a funny angle and the wee shot out at a 90 degree angle and soaked her pants, trousers, the floor, me. This happened three times in a row. I genuinely cannot tell what I did differently those times from before and I'm furious with myself for upsetting her.

The upshot is she won't wee in the loo anymore. She'll go in the potty if you insist but is more likely to wet herself. I then said she would have to go back to nappies if she didn't want to use the toilet and she threw a massive wobbly and ripped the pull up pants I had been putting on her off like the hulk.

What now? DP thinks we should "lose" the potty so she has to go on the loo but I just don't know. So furious with myself. And even more annoyingly, I still don't know what the bloody hell I did differently.
