I know all children are different, but I just wondered how long it took for your toddlers to recognise that they need to use the potty and tell you? I'm on day 4 here and DD is still very dependent on me telling her when to go, which is fine, but it makes me a bit nervous about going out and how long I can leave it between prompts!

We haven't been out yet, but what do you do - just keep sitting her on it every 45 mins like I do at home, even if it's in the middle of the supermarket...?!

We've just finished day 3 here. I'm still prompting, though day 3 has been different from day 1 in that , although I'm still asking him quite frequently if he needs the potty, he's now saying no when he genuinely doesn't, and when he says yes he does sit down and actually do something. I can't remember how long it took ds1 to start taking the initiative with the potty - I think it was a really gradual process.

We went out and about today. I took the home potty in the car and I just asked him every half hour or so if he needed a wee. He said no every time and then did a big wee when we got home. I reckon you just need some kind of cover in the car seat in case of accidents, a potty carried with you for the first week or so (in a Lidl carrier bag in our case - how classy!) and the ability to just keep calm and carry on in the event of accidents in public. Get yourself out there - you'll go bonkers if you keep on staying in the house Smile !
