Potty training relapse

Hi all,

Potty training is starting to drive me potty (so to speak) so was wondering if anyone had any similar experiences or advice...

A couple of weeks ago my little boy (30 months) was running round in the garden with no nappy and, after a few wees on the ground, went to the potty at the end of the day for a wee. So we decided he was ready to potty train, although waited a week or so for various reasons before starting properly.

So... in our 'proper' start:

  • day 1: he sat on the potty itself most of the day (I think he was worried about weeing on the floor)

- day 2: he gave up sitting on it constantly but had three wees in the potty, no accidents (he went to the potty on his own accord and then showed us when he was done). Still has a nappy for naps by the way.

- day 3: no accidents, a couple of wees and a poo on the potty.

- day 4: it all went wrong - several wees on the floor, none in the potty...

... we have had a couple of wees and poss in the potty since but he's still on quite a low success rate. I think he's less worried about weeing on the floor so gets absorbed in what he is doing (doesn't even make a move towards the potty). He tends not to want to sit on the potty at my suggestion, only when he's ready.

Any advice as we've stayed in up til now but both of us (and the baby) are starting to go stir crazy!?!

I thought about a sticker reward chart but he already has one for something else and didn't know if it might be confusing?

I'm also wondering if it might help if he drank more so he got more practice at weeing if that makes sense, so was thinking of encouraging this woth some fruits juice (he usually only has water which he doesn't drink in great quantities I have to day)?

Any advice? I'm not sure where to take it from here? Thank you in advance!
