be honest, has your child ever pooed their pants past potty training

I was talking to a friend yesterday about embarrassing and awkward parenting situations we have found ourselves in. One of the things I mentioned was when ds2 age 8 soled himself in the car whilst stuck in traffic. She claimed that none of her children have pooed themselves past potty training age. All 3 of mine at some age past daytime nappies, have, due to no fault of their own, filled their pants and urgently needed a new pair. Is this an inevitable of parenting or am I just unlucky? Xx

Well ds is only 3 but no, not as yet.

Ds was late to do poos anywhere but in his pants, he was 3.3 but between then and now (almost 7) no he hasn't.

Not quite pooed. Dd1 hadn't wiped properly the other day, and left her mark in her pants She gets in a right muddle, as she rushes herself in the toilet.

God yes. And so have all my friends kids. They are all only 3 so only a few months past potty training though, so can't comment beyond that.

Good to see I'm not as alone as I thought lol. Although mine are quite old so should be past pooing themselves. My youngest (age 5) is the only one not to have done so this year lol. Ds 2 got diarrhea and had to spend a few days wearing his bedtime pull ups as he just couldn't make it :o Ds 1 (age 11) got caught short on the way home from his tennis practice, he came in and ran to the toilet, I later found his filled pants in a nappy sack. He waits until he really has to go until he goes to the toilet. This has led to a few embarrassing accidents a lot of them in public. There was also a morning where he followed through, thankfully he still hadn't taken his drynites off yet (for bedwetting) so was contained.

My dd did at age 3 when she had not long started at pre-school. Just got a bit absorbed in the activity she was doing and left it too late! She never has done it since.

my three ds are terrible. all of them will wait until the last moment then occasionally be too late. they are 7, 5 and 3.

Had parent/teacher meeting other day. Thinking she would only speak about ds pooing in pants - only twice - or was it three - who cares. He is still doing it much to my embarrassment. But on the up side he is doing really better than most, much to my teaching him numeracy and literacy. BUT NOT POOING - but have not done anything wrong cos dd is doing it. Wuld love to go on a course for pooing for ds

DS1 no but loads of wee accident, including on a slide in a play area and in a tent at playgroup.

DS2 yes, but not very often. He had dev delay and was potty trained at three and we had lots of accidents, up to about 4 yo.

I'm sure mine probably did. Tbh I have completely forgotten all about it if it did happen (dc now aged 10 and 12). It is one of those things that becomes less than microscopically important when you look back. Only a weirdo would keep track.

DS did once in reception. But never
mind that, I remember doing it in secondary school. Having to wait in a queue for something and not being allowed to go to the toilet and pooing myself. Not to mention the fact that I quite often end up getting caught short when i go out running...

Mt DS did when he was in reception. It was finally his turn on the computer and needing a poo wasn't going to stop him. The teacher spoke to me afterwards and said it was very important that I got him toilet trained . He'd been out of nappies for two years by then.

He's had the odd accident since if he has an upset tummy.

the Eric website might have some suggestions with accidents. the one thing never to do is get cross. Dh tried this so ds1 started hiding the evidence. i am fairly confident that they will grow out of it.
