Dts have just turned 3. They have been pretty resistant to potty training in the past, but seem happy to give it a shot now.
They are in pants and have easy access to the potty and toilet.
Do I just keep on encouraging them to go to the potty ?
How often should I do that ?
We have had an accident today but dt did come and get me and showed me where it was, they both just seem like they need a gentle prod in the right direction, I am not to sure how to do that though.

Yes, keep reminding them! Maybe every 30 mins or so. As they get used to it, you can increase the timing between reminders.
Some kids get on better with no pants in the early days.
One accident before 11am? I'd say thats great going, so watever your upto is working.

How do you know when to start potty training?

When they start to show an interest in all things poo and wee related I think Faerie
Dts have known they were going for quite a while. Got really excited about weeing in the bath watching me and dp go. They could tell us they had been for a poo or were in the process.
We talked about it a lot and read Pirate Petes potty adventures. Which is quite good btw.

Ok, dt2 seems to have cracked it. Lots of wees on the potty only one accident since yesterday.
Dt2 lots of accidents -in the same place every time. He sits on the potty begrudgingly but hasn't been. Even though he has in the past.
Talked about it today and he wants to wee on the floor not the potty Confused tried to explain that wasn't the best idea and said we would keep on trying the potty. He just shook his head
He doesn't want to wear nappies now he wants to wear pants - just got to get him to go in the right place.
