Potty training

So fed up of pooey pants!

I know this is a very common problem, but I am so fed up of washing pooey pants! Dd1 is 2.8, and has been trained for wees since May. She regressed a bit with this when dd2 arrived in July, but that didn't last long. However, she poos her pants EVERY DAY! Often multiple times, as she does it in bits (sorry!).

What I'd like to know is, is there anything I can do, or will it just come in time? Please someone who's had this tell me it resolves eventually! (ok, I know she won't be still pooing herself in 20 years, but you know what I mean!). The trouble is, she doesn't seem to understand the concept of 'if you do this, then you can have this', so I'm not sure bribery would be any good. I know when a poo is coming, as she fidgets about and sticks her bottom out, but she will continue to deny she needs a poo until it's out! Arrrgh!

If you know she needs a poo, can you get her on the potty? Ask her to sit on it - don't say why, just tell her to sit and give her something to keep her there for a bit? Then if she stays and poos, give a chocolate button or something? Immediate reward.

Yes, perhaps potty is the way to go, as I think part of the problem is she doesn't want to leave what she's doing. I have to remind her about wees lately too, and even then, she often wets a little bit before eventually admitting she need to go!

I think you might be onto something about not saying anything, as at the moment I ask her if she needs to go when I see the signs.

I'm feeling like this with DS, he's only been dry for pees for about a week (been potty training for 3 weeks) but I've only ever caught one poo in the potty. He tells us when he needs a pee will sit on the toilet and do it fine, poos will poo in his pants then come and tell you he's done it. Maybe it's just a matter of time?

I am with you here. We've been training since May too and have exactly the same problem. DD is now 3. Even talk of starting nursery and being sent home from nursery hasn't changed it. She has good days but the comes a run of bad days that make you feel very cross and exasperated about it and it's so har to keep cool. DH loses hus rag. I am trying to ignore it. But 7 months on it doesn't seem to be working!

I'm interested in any advice too. DS2 has been trained since 2.9 (he is 3.1 now) and is totally dry. He started off pooing in the potty and all was well, but in the last six week she just poos in his pants every day! We tell him we are cross, we promise him a treat if he does it in the toilet or potty, but he just carries on and i don't know what to do.
