DD's been keen on potty/loo intermittently gfor months (she's 2y4m) decided to go cold turkey with pants this week as off all week and at in laws half the week and at my folk's half the week so quiet and inside all the time. Yesterday day one no accidents til massive wee at 6pm (and to be fair she was wriggling and hopping and hadn't wee'd for 2hrs) she did a bit on the floor "oh no my weed get potty quick" then sat down on the potty and finished an enormous wee.

Today similar one accident (tiny wee dribble in pants finished big wee in potty). 2 huge poos in potty. I'm suggesting she might want to go if she's not been for 2-3 hrs and sitting her on the potty (usually it seems she says "no thanks2 and means it". She's had a nappy for her nap which was almoist dry but warm when she woke shouting "my wake up mummy and my done a wee wee in my nappy"

she was in a t shirt and pants (not bottoms) yesterday and a dress and pants today. When do I introduce the tights/trousers? also Tues we'll be driving 3hrs home (I assume I put a nappy on for this as she'll likely travel at bedtime or naptime). what about a short trip out in the car later in the week - nappy/pullups or risk a towle in the carseat? Is a towel in the carseat safe from the accident point of view as I'll struggle to get the straps done up tight

Would put a pull up on for the 3 hour trip. On short trips I got mine to go for a wee before we left eve if they said they didn't need one because they then did one Smile. I sat mine either on a thin towel or on an open nappy. Sounds like it is going well though Smile

Not potty trained DS yet, but been given advice from other mums to avoid nappies except for long car journeys or bedtime and have 'special cushion' for child to sit on in car seat (or on nice chairs!) which is a pillow case or cushion cover with opened out nappies inside.

Thought I'd update. We have nappy for naps and long car trips. Knickers for everything else. No more accidents at all after my last post. She is so excited about it all "my not do wee wee in my knickers, my so wee wee and poo poo in the toilet, my big girl now". Apart from a couple of distraught moments on waking from a nap when she realisaed she'd pooed (poor love had awful diarrhoea between christmas and new year) she's been brilliant. She even managed to have diarrhoa in the toilet repeatedly and none in her knickers. She truly is a superstar. (althought the diarrhoea episodes means she is insistent that all trumping must be done on the toilet just in case!)
