Decided to go for it with 3.5 year old dd last night. She's been saying she doesn't need the nappy for a while, but was still wet in the morning. My suspicion was that she was wet because it was there, so we tried without last night.

I had a crap nights sleep listening out for her but she got up at the usual time. She said she was a bit wet and jammmie bottoms and bed slightly, but not massively wet.

So, should I carry on and try it again tonight or is she not ready? She was quite keen to tell me this morning that she hadn't wet the bed because she was a big girl so I don't think she'd be too happy to go back into the nappy.

I think it sounds promising. When my DD first went nappyless a few times she'd get up and come in to us, she would be wet by then, but the bed would be dry. I don't think they actually pee in their sleep, but when they wake they need to get to the potty/loo sharpish!

We also stopped putting a pull-up on DS at night because we felt he was weeing in it just because it was there, but what we did was to put a potty in his room at night & make sure he knew it was there, & also leave on a nightlight so he could see it. That way they can do a wee immediately upon waking & not have that dash to the bathroom which they may not be able to do quickly enough. DS has had this for about 6 weeks now & is now at the stage where we are thinking about not having it there, so it is a transient thing to help them along the way. HTH

Invest in some of those disposable undercharge. They are really good at saving the mattress! We started this a month ago and still get the odd accident but are persevering ! make sure they go to the loo before bed!

Intersted to see this thread because I'm also at this stage with my 3.5 yr old DD. Haven't tried it yet but decided to last night because she came into our bed in the middle of the night and smelt of wee from her weed in nappy, so thought it would be nice for that to go. Every morning her nappy is weed in but i have the feeling that might always be the case since it is on, she unfortunately does go for the lazy option. Never had this with my older DD as she suddenly went nappyless at just over 2 years more or less from one day to the next, including in the night. DD2 has been much harder to train though but she has been fine all day long for a good while now, would just love to make nappies completely a thing of the past in our house.

Don't fancy the lack of sleep due to watching out for her weeing though! Will try the thing with the potty. Tried it before with nappy on and she didn't go for it. Mybe with nappy off she will
