Potty training

DS hates potty/toilet

DS is going to turn 3 in 2 weeks. He has slight behavioural issues and is due to be assessed for possible mild autism.
My issue is that he is happy to sit on the potty/toilet for long periods of time but as soon as he's ready to go he immediately gets down and goes and pees in a corner somewhere. He doesn't seem to mind being wet and uncomfortable at all.
If wearing a nappy he'll announce that he's done a pee or a poo. When he says 'nappy' I immediately sit him on the loo but he seems to think it's a bit of a game at this stage.

What do I do? He's starting a 2 days a week Montessori nursery next week but luckily their classes range from 2 to 4 years old so they don't mind non potty-trained children.

Heeeelp! Just to add if I try to keep him on the loo/potty when I know it's coming he gets hysterical and distressed. I don't want to traumatise him so I usually give in.
I really don't know what to do.

Sorry to hear this, not much help my ds is almost ish 3 and he refused but we just got rid of the nappies, praised loads, made no big deal about accidents and four weeks on hes fully potty trained. If it helps he will do it you just have to persevere. Good luck.

Would bribery work? I've been amazed how well my 2.6 yr old will comply with the promise of chocolate.
