i know its probably a silly question but how do i go about starting to potty train dd. she is 21 months and asks to go to pee pee on the toilet and mimics having a wee but never does anything when on the toilet. do you think she is ready to start training. when she does a poo she says botty check but has never let me know before she has done one.
i am due to go into hospital in two weeks for c section for baby no 2 so i assume i should not do it now?
any advice appreciated

Keep putting her on the toilet when she says she needs, even if she does nothing. She will soon enough and then when she does give her a sticker (I used a sticker chart) and it works wonders. At the end of the week with full sticker chart give here a treat.... You can also buy potties with stickers attached now but I never used them. I just think it's better to get them straight on to the toilet.

I wouldnt launch into full on potty training just yet, she is showing signs and you can encourage that as PP mentions but take it easy on both of you as big changes coming up with baby on the way. I'd keep her in nappies for now, maybe transition to pull ups so they are easy to get up and down for when she asks to use the toilet, talk lots about how mummy / daddy / gran etc use the big toilet and set up the sticker chart (tho stickers didnt work for us, smarties were magic!)

Just to add in another 3mths or so mid summer she'll probably be adjusted to baby and ready to TT in earnest and it will be perfect time of year!
