I keep hearing conflicting views about when is the best time to start.

Please can you give me some advice. Are there any clues which will tell me that DS is ready?

It's not about age. Every child is different. It's about whether or not they are ready.

Some of the common indications are:
An interest in the toilet or potty and a willingness to sit down on it.

Asking for nappy changes when necessary or removing own nappy.

Telling in advance before filling the nappy.

Going for a reasonable length of time between wees.

You can also talk about it together and see if the child feels ready.
My DD stubbornly refused to go on the potty or try pants until she felt entirely ready. One day she decided she was and she trained with almost no accidents at all.

Depends on your child and how you react to accidents.

If you can't stand wee on the carpet then wait until the child is older. If you want your child out of nappies as soon as possible then go for elimation communication and start at birth.

I suggest you train in summer if at all possible it makes washing and drying easier.
