Potty training

Feeling down about potty training. Am I nuts?

DH thinks I'm a psycho/nutter/loonie as have been feeling really down today, the main reason being that after about 6 weeks of being potty perfect at home, my 22mo DD has had 2 days of frank accidents - both wees and poos - and I have no idea why. Just feel that I've failed and have spent the whole day in a real mood about it all. Am 22 weeks pregnant so maybe hormones making it difficult to be rational about it.

I had to put her back in pullups this afternoon as the accidents were getting to me too much. Don't know what to do now. Carry on with pants and hope it's just a phase, or go back to nappies. Seems odd to go back to nappies after over 2 months being in pants with only odd accidents here and there.

Urgh....

And why the hell am I so down about it? Stupid woman. Snap out of it!

You may find that perhaps she is a bit unwell or unusually tired for some reason (coming down with a cold or similar, recent excitement at home/nursery or wherever). Sometimes this happened with mine and the next day they would come out with a cold/new tooth or similar. She is still very young, sounds as if she has done well with the training so far.

Personally I would stick with the pants if she has been doing so well for 6 weeks. However if it is really getting you down, and you feel you might end up shouting (I'm not saying you would, just that I found it frustrating when training my two) then perhaps go with the pullups.

No you are not nuts. :) Some of us find potty training our dcs more stressful than others. Tomorrow is another day.

When I said go with the pullups I meant just for the very short term. :)

Thanks for that, OPOL. Will see how she is in the morning and hopefully stick with pants. At least will have DH around at the weekend to help with the mess!

Good luck, I found it stressful and my two were apparently "easy" according to nursery/cm. I don't say that in a smug way btw, just to illustrate that some seem to sail through (dcs and parents) and others don't. Sounds as if you and she have been doing very well so far.
