Potty training

Have I messed this up already?

My DD is 20 months old, and she's been watching us on the loo for ages. Knows when she's peeing or pooing (although calls everything, including farts, poo), and so when she said 'poo' a couple of weeks ago, I asked her if she wanted to go on the loo - she nodded - on she went did a poo. Cue lots of excitement from mummy.

But, having done that for a couple of weeks (I put her on after her bath, or if she tells me she wants a poo), she now tells me she wants a poo at bedtime (after story and when she's in her jamas), so we do the loo, but she doesn't go. I give her loads of time on the loo. Then as soon as I put her down to bed she does a poo in her nappy and gets really upset. So I change her with lots of 'it's fine, you can poo in your nappy, that's fine' but am so worried am giving her really mixed signals. I'm also wondering if it's a delaying-bed tactic (but, to be fair, I don't think she's that bright to realise that).

So - question is, what would you do?

No idea, but my DD always needed a poo once she'd laid down. Still does, fully toilet trained day & night, at nearly 4. I think things start moving once they lie down. ALways did a poo once put to bed & had to change her nappy straight away - frustrating as she'd often be dozing off when it happened. She's not messing around - it will pass.
