Lifting at night - good idea or not?

We are 3 days into training DS(2.4). He isn't dry or clean yet and he is now refusing to wear nappies/pullups at night. Trouble is that he has wet the bed every night so far - usually around 5am. He does notice and gets upset, but doesn't seem to wake up in time to go to the loo.

Should I lift him just at 11pm or so and sit him on the loo? Do you think this will keep him dry until the morning? Or will his bladder just get used to going then and he'll pee the bed at 5am anyway..?

Any experience or ideas appreciated.

My mum is trying to convince me to lift my DD at 11pm, as apparently it worked a treat with my 4 brothers and me as kids, to keep us dry until morning.

So I'd be tempted to say try it. Luckily my DD hasn't refused a nappy at night yet.

When does he have his last drink?

He has his last drink around 7pm (just a small amount of milk.

I tried lifting him last night and he not impressed. He did stay dry though, so this might work!!

The only reason I was concerned was that my SIL used to lift her DS at 11pm and then he started wetting at 10:55pm, so they started lifting him at 10:30, but he started wetting at 10:15...etc etc.

Will give it another go tonight and see how it goes.

I'm not an expert in this area but a few of my friends try not to give any fluid after 6pm.

Must be frustrating having to wash so many bed sheets.

Try "bumping" your message tonight once everyone is on mumsnet and see if you get some more tips. I would be inclined to try lifting for a wee in the dark on a potty myself and try to stop fluids sooner too Hmm

We do for our 3 year old since she came out of night time nappies.
When we go to bed about 11ish we take her to the loo in semi-darkness. She's half awake and always does a wee.
Not had an accident unless we forget or she had an accident before we get there.

And she still has milk (about 150ml) at night.

She was fully trained in the day, however for a good few weeks if not months, worth a try though with your DS I'd say.
