Potty training

Almost 5 and still not dry

During the day, if he's really engrossed in something, I still have to remind him to go to the toilet or he wets himself but its at night thats the real problem. We've been pull up free now for about 6 weeks and I'd reckon we've have had about a week of dry nights. He drinks plenty during the day but nothing after 5.30/6. Big wee before bed, sleep usually 7.30/8 for about 12 hours (yes I know I'm lucky!) Its the early morning 5am wee that he just seems to be in such a deep sleep for that the signal doesn't get from brain to bladder. I'm not a great advocate of waking them to wee as I can't see how its effective.

Any tips? Should I be thinking about taking him to the docs yet? I can cope with it for the time being and won't go back to pull ups but the stripping of bed every day is getting tedious. He also has a tendency to wrap the quilt between his legs so that has to go in the wash too.

Incidently, even tho he drinks plenty of water during the day his wee has a really strong smell. Is this an indication of anything?

Thanks ladies

Daisy x

Speak to your Health Visitor but imo 5 still a little to early to be worrying. He'll grow out of it.

Sounds entirely normal for a boy in my limited experienceGrin......relax and accept night-time pull-ups.

He doesn't want to go back to pull ups and I'm not sure that would be the right thing to do however I agree with all you ladies... he'll get there when he gets there and in the mean time if my house smells a bit of pee then so be it!! I can always blame the dogs Grin
