Possible low iron

I has my dd 3 months ago and for the last few weeks have been feeling lightheaded, dizzy and run down. I took iron tablets for a while during pregnancy as I had low iron stores and then was given iron tablets to take for a month after birth. I went to the doctor on Friday and they have said my symptoms could be linked to low iron bur I can't get a blood test until the 21st! Anyone else had similar symptoms or any suggestions of how to deal with it in the mean time.
I know I could buy some iron tablets and start taking them but then that would affect my blood test results.
Any help much appreciated!
