Hi all
Anyone else aching in weird places since having your baby and carrying/holding it? My shoulders and knees/ankles ache- especially in the mornings and I feel ancient! Please tell me this is normal! My baby is nearly 7 weeks old....

My baby is 7 weeks today and my knees are really sore...also the bottom of my back when I carry him in a sling but that's probably my fault for not doing it right!

Glad it's not just me! My arm too from holding her to feed....I wonder why the knees though? X

I'm five months post birth and I have this all over. Pretty bad pain in wrists, knees back and hips all very achy. Even my finger joints hurt.
My baby has broken me

Get your thyroid checked. I had this and my GP wrote it off as general aches and pains from having a baby but after nearly a year and several pointless appointments it had got worse, hair thinning (again, expected post baby), depression (PND) and various other ailments all written off as "well, what do you expect, you have a new baby". Turned out my thyroid was shot to shit (again, very common after childbirth) so if it doesn't improve get a blood test for vitamin deficiency and thyroid function.

My baby is 7 weeks old today and my knees, wrists and knuckles hurt. Not sure what is causing it though

It's something to do with hormones, relaxin maybe? It's normal and will disappear. I had really bad ankles for a while.

@ohthegoats I know this post is old. My baby is now 16 months old and I still have this. Had all blood tests and everything all clear! Please tell me it went away?

It went away but it took a good 20 months! I also started iron tablets which helped. Wishing you the best @chocsaucestrawb

I had this. I literally couldn't bend my fingers on a morning without pain. GP did bloods and i was hugely vit D deficient. On her advice, i added a separate Vit D supplement to my general post natal vitamins, which helped. But it only really went away when i stopped breastfeeding.

I had this after my last child. Turned out I had hashimotos thyroid disease triggered by the pregnancy.

@Mehripoop oh wow ! That long ?! Poor you

@YorkshireTeaCup mines not that bad but still feel like crap - I've also added a vit d in my tablets

@ofwarren how was that diagnosed ? Was it a blood test?

I had over active thyroid a year before pregnancy which retuned when I gave birth. It was all over the place for 2 months but my last blood test shows it's now levelled ( started taking meds - carbimazole last month)

My last bloods showed I had low folate so now taking folic acid

I also have some vit b 12 injections booked along with a supplement for now

My iron was low ( lost 2 litres of blood giving birth ) that went up and went down a bit but now is level

X

Yes, they tested my T4, T3 and thyroid antibodies.
