Bramshott Tue 20-Mar-12 10:53:34

Looking forward to the 5th birthdays! Come and let us know what your April 07 babies are getting up to for their birthdays (otherwise Oooggs and I will just end up talking to ourselves again!)

oooggs Tue 20-Mar-12 21:09:53

Hi bramshott, just checking in!!

Well Erin & Jack have their party this Saturday (birthday the following Thursday). Having it early due to Easter holidays and my parents have their 40th wedding party the next weekend.

So what is everyone else Bramshott up to???

oooooh birthday thread grin

No party plans yet but I thinkI'm getting her some playmobil stuff for her present. Does anybody else have that - is it popular?

oooggs Tue 20-Mar-12 21:22:09

Playmobil is good but mine are all more into Lego. We have the ark ( which I have just put on gumtree) and the pirate ship.

We have list and lots of Lego and they all just prefer it.

Wow I can't believe they are nearly 5 and that we have been 'together' for that length of time shock

Bramshott Tue 20-Mar-12 21:22:17

Great to see both of you!

O's party is Sat 31st (birthday on Tues) - box of Hello Kitty plates and napkins and craft stuff arrived from Yellow Moon today. 16 girls coming. Going to draw up a plan down to the last minute!

Bramshott Tue 20-Mar-12 21:24:22

We have got O a little trampoline (one with a bar to hold) because it was what she really wanted, and I thought she'd still get a good few years of use out of it.

Playmobil and Lego are both popular in this house!

O know Ooogs - and most of us probably got together 9 months before that - back in 2006!

cazboldy Tue 20-Mar-12 21:25:16

Helloooo.... just marking my place - PROMISE to come back soon xx

Eddas Wed 21-Mar-12 18:14:51

did someone say birthdays?! grin

ds isn't 5 til 13th (A friday again lik his birth day) but his party is 5th April. He's having a joint party with his best friend and they're so excited! It's a hall party with a bouncy castle and a few games, should be noisy but fun!

He's having some mega blok smurfs for his bday. THe mage blok ones are the only ones I could find really, so hope they're ok.

cazboldy Sat 24-Mar-12 08:46:23

Molly's is on Good Friday again for the first time since she has been born. She wants absolutely anyhting to do with the disney "Tangled" film.

I can't believe my baby will be 5!

I recently became an auntie again, 3 wks ago tomorrow and he really is the most gorgeous bundle of loveliness grin

Am cracking along with my OU course, and so far have managed to get marks around the 70 -75% mark everytime, so hope that continues! 3 more assignments left on this module, then I am having the summer off!

Horses going well, and cows all good too! smile

Older children are all doing well too - James had a progress report the other day and is predicted all A's and B's in his GCSE's next year (proud Mum!) and Caitlin has taken so brilliantly to high school, and is loving it. Harry and Charlie also coming along nicely smile

Will try and pop back from time to time over the next few weeks.

Love to you all and your (big, grown-up) babies xxx

oooggs Sat 24-Mar-12 16:40:21

I am shattered!! They have had their party (even though birthday not until Thursday) glad it is all over. The party was stress free but the build up and tidy up weren't. Dh is on night so that didn't help.

Hope all those who are having parties have successful ones x

Bramshott Sun 25-Mar-12 20:33:23

Well done Oooggs! O's party is next Sat but I have a busy week so I'm going to sit down and party plan tonight!

Yes, they're all 5 on the same day of the week they were born I think - O was born on a Tuesday morning . . . Going all misty just thinking of it (in a nostalgic way, NOT in a having more children way!)

oooggs Sun 25-Mar-12 21:51:30

yes you are right, e&j wre born on a thursday!!!

we have my parent 40th wedding party next saturday hence why we partied early and to be honest last night i was in no fit state to be going anywhere!!!

good luck with your planning

Bramshott Mon 26-Mar-12 17:44:50

Planning is okay, but I need more games! What games do 5 yr olds like - I've got musical statues and pass the parcel, but I need about five in total I think. . .

Lovely to read your updates too Caz and Eddas - the birthday season is nearly upon us!!!

cazboldy Mon 26-Mar-12 18:09:34

How about when you have a red, blue, green and yellow corner, and they have to pick a corner to run to and each time 1 corner is out... you can have a colour of each item in a bag to pick out to make it fairer.

musical bumps

will see if i can think of any more smile

Eddas Mon 26-Mar-12 20:11:28

ooo games, errm

mummy game, load of cheap loo rolls. get into pairs, one wraps the other in loo roll

I did one once with a load of ball pit balls, chuck them all over the floor and the idea was to collect up all the red ones first, then blue etc etc. Didn't work out like that but they enjoyed it

sleeping lions

duck duck goose

Bramshott Tue 27-Mar-12 12:58:52

Brilliant ideas - thanks Eddas and Caz!

Bramshott Tue 27-Mar-12 20:43:27

Well the birthday girl has has a good day I think. Yesterday it was looking unlikely she'd make it to school today as her cough had been so bad and she had a temperature, but she slept all night, and was much better today, so off she went!

My (April!) baby is 5!!!

leakyR Tue 27-Mar-12 21:15:30

Yay birthday thread!

Happy birthday Orla! Think Zed and Lola's birthday is today as well. Should we dig out the stats?

George is the 12th and will be having a joint party with Iris who ill be 3 on the 24th. The party is the 14th and will have tonnes of girls as G's class has only 11 boys and 17 girls! It's fancy dress and G wants to be spiderman and Iris wants to be a cat, with that in mind the cakes and party bags etc will be spiderman and hello kitty.

Lego is v.popular here too and G would also like spiderman on a motorbike (if you think he's obsessed you're correct!)

Will try to keep popping back to give out birthday love. Lovely to see some familiar names again grin

Happy birthday Isobelle x

Lucewheel Sun 08-Apr-12 20:30:37

A huge happy birthday to our gorgeous April babies smile

Life continues to be very busy in the Lucewheel household although I have been poorly. The medication has been making me feel really rough and very blush at work when nearly fainting but I have been assured that I will be back to my usual self in a couple of months. I have been feeling quite guilty that I don't feel up to giving S a proper party but will make his day as special as I can.

A real suprise for us has been being selected for the xbox product test which the dc's have totally loved and has been the source of much Easter fun grin well timed MN.

Bramshott Tue 10-Apr-12 09:24:14

Lost you!

Happy Birthday to Izzy and Molly and everyone else who's had a birthday recently. Hope everyone has had a very relaxing Easter break.

Bramshott Tue 10-Apr-12 09:24:53

Sorry to hear that you've been poorly Luce - thanks for dropping in with a 'birthday' update.

leakyR Tue 10-Apr-12 21:32:21

Hope all birthdays have been happy since my last visit and that nobody has eaten too much chocolate or simnel cake. Been up in North East since last Sunday. Mostly at the house that technology forgot a.k.a. my mam's house. Both DC have been ruinously spoiled by both sets of GPs; 2 April birthdays and Easter have proved to be the jackpot for George and Iris. I've had stonking fluey/cold over the weekend - high temp, dizziness, aches, copious snot and a hacking cough -my least calorific Easter ever! Coming out the other side of it now thank goodness as I've got a HUUUUUGE to-do list before the party on Saturday and have to fit in actual birthday fun on Thursday too!

cazboldy Wed 11-Apr-12 11:53:21

Thanks Bramshott, Molly had a fab birthday, and I hope everyone else has too smile

oooggs Thu 12-Apr-12 08:00:04

leakyR Sun 15-Apr-12 17:51:48

No 15th April birthday?
George did have a lovely day on Thursday.MY PFB is still pretty perfect as far as I can see wink After bacon sandwiches and pressies dh took the dc to soft play so I could crack on with cakes for the party. We went for a Chinese meal on Thursday night - which is a rare but always welcome treat for all of us. G insisted on using his chopsticks throughout! Entertaining, if not particularly efficient.
Friday was last minute party shopping, finishing the second cake and wrapping prizes etc. ILs arrived Saturday morning and for once MIL was a dream helping to get sandwiches done letting me be in chargeshock.
The party went pretty much without a hitch, we had an entertainer for the kids who was very funny and kept all 35 of them engaged for a full hour, we seemed to get the food right - not many leftovers/nobody went without. There were definitely more presents than at Christmas time after the party and both dc have been beside themselves with excitement. Pleased to say there has only been minimal squabbling and brat-like behaviour. We're all tired today but no rest for the wicked as it's the whole back-to school/preschool rigmarole.
Hope all this week's birthdays have been happy and fun smile

oooggs Sun 15-Apr-12 19:19:56

Yes leaky, my dh wink but he is far from 5 even though he acts it sometimes wink

Bramshott Mon 16-Apr-12 09:13:05

Racing past to wish William, Joe, Harry, George and everyone who's had a birthday over the weekend a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

So much to do this morning, but the sun is shining and the kids are back to school so it's going to be an efficient day!

Glad George and Iris's party went well Leaky. Happy Birthday too to Mr Oooggs!

Happy Birthday to all the April '07 babies.

Erin had a small birthday party at a craft cafe a friend owns. We did biscuit decorating, bracelet/necklace making and colouring/stamping/sticking as well as pass the parcel and food. It was nice as she's been a bit overwhelmed by the previous (larger) parties we've had.

Cazboldy Glad your OU course is going well. Mine is too but am overlapping two modules atm and it's a LOT of work, especially as Orla seems to be almost dropping her afternoon nap.

Hope everyone is well!

Bramshott Wed 18-Apr-12 08:57:27

Good to see you Crafty - glad Erin had a good day.

leakyR Wed 25-Apr-12 10:41:24

My April '09 had a lovely birthday yesterday. Iris is 3! We had a quiet family tea and met up with some of her pals in the afternoon.
I love the dc madly but am so pleased that birthdays are done for another 12 months!grin

oooggs Thu 26-Apr-12 19:32:32

I am with you there leaky. After dts have had their birthday it is ds1 in December. But there is something good about having them in the same month or two!!!

I know Oooggs sad

How are you? x

oooggs Mon 13-Aug-12 20:03:53

yes we are all fine!!!! Just had a week up in Scotland and had the pleasure of meeting up with gmm & Charlie and the weather was ace.

Just about to start my last year with a child at home shock, it seems to have gone so fast.

Hope all is well with you and yours and it looks like it could just be you and I chatting on this thread sad

All well here. Bea's reading is brilliant but her writing is awful. I think I would like a new job. Dh had a new job back in March and it's good but crazy busy. Dd2 owns snails now, dd1 is going in to year 10 (faints), holidays in Scotland from FRiday and need to go do bedtime story now.......

cazboldy Mon 13-Aug-12 22:28:59

I have had a mad couple of weeks, dog had an (expensive!) op, pony also spent a night at the vets - pleased to say they are all on the mend.

Dc all ok smile

Molly does lots of reading/drawing and writes some lovely stories - though with some very interesting spellings grin

James is going to be starting Y11! and Harry also transferring to High school.

James is taking a girl to the cinema for the first time on Thursday! shock

elkiedee Thu 16-Aug-12 13:22:18

Hi all, long time no talk.

I was getting a bit anxious about Danny's reading but he's suddenly taken to asking me to read with him and I think he's really coming on.

At work, my boss became very ill in November 2011, briefly returned in March/April, then we learned that it was terminal in May. At the same time we had a restructure and I learned that I'm being made redundant on 1 June, along with another 3 secretaries, leaving them with 2 of existing 6 legal secs, and the head of law's PA, and the Chief Exec's PA. I am STILL serving out my notice (been here a long time and they're being infuriatingly slow). Brian died on 10 July sad, and I still can't get used to him not being here clacking away on his braille typewriter.

I'm actually looking forward to my life after here, I have something already lined up to do working from home as C starts part time nursery at the end of September, and I'll probably spend a few weeks just resting and sorting stuff out at home, or working on my index if the work comes through in October, then I'll work out whether to try to freelance from home or sign up with agencies for legal secretarial temp work. Given our current childcare costs, I don't think we can be that much worse off, and the redundancy money is about 5 months gross, so 8 months' take home and if I don't have to pay so much childcare and fares from that....

We continued the tradition of a picnic in the park and us baking a cake at the last minute - Danny enjoys it and it works for us!

Bramshott Mon 20-Aug-12 13:13:48

Hiya - just a quickie to say that I'm trying to have a bit of a Mumsnet break at the moment! I find that when I come here (to the site in general, NOT this thread) I get sucked into reading threads which either depress me, infuriate me or come accross as deeply concerning and it's better if I stay away at the moment. I know there are lots of great, supportive threads too, but I seem to get drawn to the wrong ones!

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good summer. I'm really enjoying seeing updates from those of you I have on Facebook (if I don't have you on my Facebook and you'd like to stay in touch that way, just send me a PM). We're having a lovely time although O has chickenpox at the moment.

Year 1 after the holidays - wow!

cazboldy Thu 06-Sep-12 21:12:34

and so...... back to school we go sad

oooggs Thu 06-Sep-12 21:19:50

Hi Caz we had day 3 today but they are exhausted when they get home!!

Bramshott - I only pop by now sad but do like to keep in contact via fb with my April 07 friends. With that in mind - happy birthday Leaky x

oooggs Sat 09-Feb-13 22:51:56

Okay we started this thread talking about their 5th birthdays and I have just booked something for their 6th one!!!!

How are we all? Need to touch ground! Facebook sometimes isn't always the place ;-)

oooggs Sun 24-Feb-13 20:25:10

come on ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lucewheel Mon 25-Feb-13 18:56:50

Hello Oooggs!!!!!!! smile

Utterly unbelievable that our April 07 babies are going to be six very soon

S is growing fast but remains the best surprise that I have ever had smile

Things are very hectic in my household, I have had two lots of surgery in the past six months and am still trying to get back on my feet. DH is going to start working away from home 5 days a week starting on Monday. Wish me luck....

Does anyone else smile when they see the April 13 Antenatal thread?

Hope that all other April 07 families are doing well. I have been crap at posting on the thread but do think of you all often and wonder how all of the other April 07 DCs are doing x

oooggs Thu 28-Feb-13 19:09:05

Hi Luce, lovely to see you!!!! Are you 'flying south' this summer? Aren't they getting big!!! Our baby is now 4 OMG and is starting school in September. We have booked a party of sorts for Erin & Jack

Come on ladies, how are tbe rest of you??

leakyR Thu 14-Mar-13 15:26:20

Have just booked a roller skating party this week for George and my April 2009 (Iris) baby is having a soft play party with 9 preschool friends because I got a fab deal on livingsocial. However I found out this morning that I'm having an op on April 2nd to have my prolapsed bladder and bowel repaired, so it'll be shop bought cakes and me barking orders at DH if I'm not fully back on my feet by then.

Happy 6th birthdays April babies smile

I note in August last year I said I needed a new job. Still working on that.....

All fine here. Bea is delightful. Her reading is amazing (boasts) and her writing is much improved - she will now willingly pick up a pen and write stuff grin More playmobil on the list for this birthday.........

I have NONE of you on facebook. I think this is because I wasn't on facebook when the babies were little and this thread had traffic grin. Now I am though so if anybody would like to link up that way please PM me.

Oh and Leaky - hope OP went well. Just realised that was two days ago!

cazboldy Thu 04-Apr-13 22:20:53

Hi NL - for you and anyone else who isn't on fb..... I am 13 + 3 with number 6! smile

cazboldy Thu 04-Apr-13 22:22:39

oh and Happy Birthday April babies - Molly will be 6 on Saturday smile

grin How lovely! Aaaaaaaaah. Congratulations!!!!!

leakyR Tue 09-Apr-13 10:21:30

Hi all. Now 7 days post op and it went well. I was home on Friday and am quite sore and can't walk or stand for very long at the moment but am doing little bits of pottering and then resting a lot. Have the ILs here this week and so far no murderous thoughts about the MIL, but DH has gone to London until Thursday for work so we'll see how it goes without someone to roll my eyes at when she goes off on one. I'm being bitchy sorry, she is mostly lovely so long as you agree with her and do as you're told.
Iris has been quite upset by me being away for a few days and coming back unable to do what I could before. we did try and prepare the DC, but she is still little to understand properly. She keeps asking if I'll be at home when she gets back from preschool or ballet or the shops etc.
George is 6 on Friday and his party is Sunday. The ILS are horrified by having to help out - you'd think a pair of retired teachers might like other people's children a bit more, or maybe not? Any way we weren't going to cancel so they'll just have to manage. It's only an hour with a bouncy castle, 15 kids and a few games. No food, just juice and a cupcake each, I did scale things down when I got my op date and I did party bags and prizes before I went into hospital.
Gosh I do sound grumpy, I better go and take my pain meds.
